Well another FREE FM has bitten the dust accoding to www.allaccess.com Live 97.1-FREE FM (Detroit) will flip to Sports at 3 today. Why don't Live 105.3(FREE FM-Dallas) go ahead and flip too??

You know, that CAFE-FM format on the cursed 990 never got a chance to shine... couldn't do much worse on 105.3?

That's assuming that their not insane enough to try and go all local all the time from the get go.
But then again, maybe they WANT to waste a ton of money upfront...
And we've touched on this before, there are reasons that the people who are always mentioned as possiblitys for a sports station (cough-Fisher-cough) aren't on the air now. They SUCK.
Can anybody name me someone who did sportstalk before in this iwn, and did it succesfully, who isn't on the air now?
Between 3 sports stations in town, who hasn't had at least a couple of chances? And failed at least once?

This market is ripe for a Vietnamese hip hop station or Italian country.
Thanks & Kudos to VERITAS DE VOCE for remembering our short-lived female talk station CAFE 990.
I'd love to re-launch that format on FM or AM, but it sure seems like the broadcast groups are not interested in talk radio that serves women, instead choosing to add more all-sports stations to an already saturated sports market. But what do I know?

Well, according to Rhyner, you're the one that thought the Hardline sucked and needed to be taken off the air.
If you believe him, they were just close (fingers really close together) to being taken off the air because you didn't 'get' them and they wouldn't follow your faxed over memos...
The only thing, again if you believe Rhyner, that kept them on the air was a great book that blindsided you, Spence hendrick, etc...
So yeah, I wonder all the time what do you know...
K-Rock has been mentioned. I for one would like to see a good "everything that rocks" type of format or an "alternative" format. I don't care what moniker they choose. I recently heard an acquaintance say that he was recently in Oklahoma City and was suprised that they have better rock radio than DFW. Very sad.
