During a report near the top of the WNBC 5PM newscast today about the Vice President's trip to the gulf area, a sound bite was played of a heckler twice yelling "Go (eff) yourself Cheney." Obviously a reference to the VP's outburst on the Senate floor last year. The comments were loud and clear on the report. Is this considered OK because it was part of a news story?!? It's shocking to me that a Network O&O in NYC would allow this to be aired.

Common sense would dictate that the offensive
language be removed from the broadcast. You
can draw your own conclusions about WNBC-TV.

Exactly. I don't find it offensive, just ironic. Apparently WNBC can get away with in the context of a "news" story but if a host were to say the same thing they're immediately canned.

It isn't offensive, what really is offensive is those who support censorship.<P ID="signature">______________

Don't forget Bill Bonds at WXYZ in Detroit, dropping several F-bombs while taping a news update back around 1980.
