Live broadcast of "The West Wing"

I'm sitting here watching the live telecast of "The West Wing". The actors are great, ditto for the technical execution of the show. But one thing set me to wondering:

Why do they have the "Live NBC News" bug at the bottom right side of the screen? Last time I checked, "The West Wing" was a FICTITIOUS show. Yes, it's live, but it's an ENTERTAINMENT program, and I don't think they should have the NBC bug in the corner as if the show were an actual real-world debate.

Or am I just overreacting over something nobody else cares about anymore?

I think it's an overreaction, all things considered. Those things being that this is a pretty darn good broadcast that is much better than any other live political debate, or most other stuff on network television nowadays. They sure like to talk about Canada too.

Kudos to NBC.<P ID="signature">______________

But it made it seem so real! In the spirit of "War of the Worlds," it was one of the most creative episodes of any TV show I've seen!
IMO

And so many of us wish that people like Vinick and Santos were the ones running 18 months ago, it gives us some wish fulfillment.

I think its funny as all hell watching Alan Alda preach conservative politics.

Now we ALL know thats not real, lol.

One minor clarification regarding "foreign oil": We do import much of our crude from Canada, but pay Exxon/Mobil huge amounts to get it from our dear "friends" in the terrorist nation of Saudi Arabia.....

I personally thought the same thing (I recorded it, though my software crashed half way through and I was able to manually record the rest).

I also thought it was extremely unrealistic and it seemed to me that they had no idea what they were talking about.

Now I don't watch it regularly, and I didn't watch the first half in order to watch the Simpsons (again, I'll check the recording), but is this normal for the show? Because if it is, that's pretty bad.

The worst parts were the screaming arguments. If I saw those on a real debate, I wouldn't vote for either one of those clowns.

I wish the real debates had been more like that.
