Live Earth Dead Last in Ratings

Flopped on summer primetime on a Saturday night...but how much of a surprise is that, really? What wouldn't get low ratings on that timeslot?

What's notable IMO is that the online audience (worldwide) outpaced the domestic network audience by over 2x. Maybe all they really needed was cable coverage, but it's not like NBC was airing anything of real importance--I'm not sure there was a big gamble on their side.

Yes, cable would be nice.....

Let's review Network coverage of 1985's Live Aid. MTV gives us the Led Zeppelin Reunion.
ABC, at the same time gives America Madonna instead. Yeah.... that's the Ticket..... Madonna!! At least that's the way I remember it. Now MTV can't find a pot to %*$$ in!
Big corporations are so with it, when it comes to discerning what's worth watching !!!!
So with it !! (Not--- Ha Ha!!)

I tried to watch live earth several times but would get bored, some of the bands the audio quality stunk (couldent hear the words), way too much rap crap and a whole lot of talking. If I remember live aid it moved allot better going from band to band with out all the talking in between (I watched almost all of live aid). I watched some of the cable feed channels and the the banner covering the bottom third of the screen was really distracting and some times there would be a long break between bands. Commercials where not too bad though (at least on CTV which is what I was watching). I was realy dissapointed, I still have some to watch that I taped but have pretty much been fast forwarding through that as well.

As far as the cable coverage of Live Earth, the delay and the cutaways were really very disconcerting. The best part about watching it LIVE online was that you could pick and choose which concert to watch at any given time instead of only seeing bits and pieces on the cable networks.

Hi everyone:

Just yet another example that you can't fight the forces of Mother Nature, no matter how hard you try.

Al Gore is more out of touch with reality than (GASP!) PRESIDENT BUSH (I didn't even think that was possible).

Cheers :D

I had absolutly no interest in tuning into The Dead Earth Concert.Americans I believe(the ones with brains) are realizing slowly that alot of this crap is just that "CRAP".I do believe you should throw trash in a trash can.So dont get me wrong on that.
As for "LIVE AID". That was original. Not only MTV was carring it, but local channels too.Dont forget in 1985 MTV,Cable and music videos were pretty much a new concept. I know HBO in the 80's aired "Video Jukebox".A half hour block of current videos. We had HBO with a special antenna before Cable hit Rhode Island where I live in 1982/83.
"LIVE AID" was great and a concert of that magnitude will NEVER be duplicated.Like the original WOODSTOCK.
