Live in the Den ending/Breakfast Club beginning

Looks like Premier Radio networks in cancelling Live in the Den with Big Tigger's countdown and picking up Weekends with the Breakfast Club from WWPR in New York. I always figured the Breakfast Club would go syndicated but assumed it'd be mornings first, not pretty much replacing Big Tigger for the weekend show. It'll be interesting how many stations start picking them up for the countdown.

Is this the Clear Channel way? They'll push hard to get them on all their Urban stations, see how they do on weekends...then eventually start firing the local morning shows and replacing them with The Breakfast Club. This is the next big Clear Channel morning show for their Urbans. And its a good show. Just a shame for the local talent......

I figured Clear Channel would eventually push "The Breakfast Club" into syndication sooner or later. Most CC Urbans have Steve Harvey, but they can easily push him to all CC Urban ACs.

Well Big Tigger has always worked for CBS, so he isn't as relevant to Clear Channel (through Premier) as he used to be since moving from DC to Atlanta. And even if CC tries to push The Breakfast Club Weekend Countdown at all, there will always be a handful of stations under the CC banner that won't take the program.

WOW, I knew this was coming since Tigger's move to Atlanta, but this soon. I guess CBS and Clear Channel wanted to part ways on this venture. Well, the one good thing that will come out of this is V-103 will likely open up some time for more local programming since cramming "Live in the Den" and "Nick Cannon's Countdown" on the weekends since mid-2012. I doubt Reggie Rouse or Rick Caffety will pick up this countdown show. Also I'm wondering what KPRS in Kansas City will do on Sunday nights as well?

That is a good question about KPRS. I wonder if 106 and Park Countdown is still on the air?

I'm crossing my fingers that Myron Fears will allow KPRS to remain local on Sunday nights as well. It would be a good vehicle for underutilized talent to better there craft and familiarize themselves with the Kansas City market. That's what weekends used to be for on most urban stations, so why not do it again?

KPRS is going with the Breakfast Club Countdown on Sunday nights @ 7PM starting 4/7. V-103 has yet to announce what is going to occur on Sunday nights.

STREETZ 94.5 Atlanta picked up "The Breakfast Club" Saturdays at 6am

Well, that guarantees that V-103 will remain "live and local" all weekend long with the exception of the "Nick Cannon Countdown".

What's really strange is when I hear Breakfast Club on STREETZ and On The Air w/Russ Parr on HOT, some songs are never actually played outside of these shows.

Like which songs are you referring to exactly?

Neither have played Macklemore "Thrift Shop", Nicki Minaj "High School", B.Smyth "Leggo".....I recalled HOT is just now playing Sevyn Streeter "I Like It". Considering HOT and STREETZ both run these syndicated weekend shows at 6am on Saturdays, nobody really notices. ATL stations, including V103 Kila, tends to add new music later than smaller markets. Unfortunately, I'm forced to listen to Sirius XM The Heat at work and they add new music first outside of ATL Hip-Hop music.

There is no denial about V-103 adding many hit songs late, they tend to focus on core artists' new music prior to others. This seems to be a nationwide problem with terrestrial radio as many delay adding hit music.
