Live, local--all vinyl

Folks, we've often talked about the lack of good radio. Well, here is a refreshing change: The 45 Guy. Each Saturday, Mike MacKenzie plays music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, similiar to the old AM format. But the show isn't just music; he talks about the history of the music and the history of the era. But the most interesting part, I think, is that all music and interviews are on vinyl! Yes, each week, he rolls a turntable cart into the studio and plays the entire show off 45rpm records.

If you want to hear this cool show, tune into KAHI 950AM on Saturday mornings at 11am or catch the replay at 9pm (10pm or 11pm if Oakland A's preempts). If you're out of the area, you can listen online. I'm hooked on the show.

Finally, no, I'm not The 45 Guy (I completed the engineering tasks).

Another great programming feature on 950 KAHI, weekends at night they play Adult Standards. The program is called "Sinatra and Friends" and it is mostly commercial-free. I have a hard time receiving 950 during the day, but at night they throw most of the signal towards the valley and it comes in great! Love hearing the standards music on AM...a rarity these days.
