Live Shifts Left on FM Radio in Providence

He's all personality. A booming voice, reverb, jokes, constant interaction with traffic reporters and listeners (especially on remotes), expert knowledge of the entire state, lots of community involvement (including many charity events and a weekly summer talent show), and more. I'm not from New Jersey, but from the time I've spent there, I can tell you that even non-radio nerds know Big Joe and tune in to hear him.

Maybe we differ on the definition of "compelling."

IIRC Some of the community involvement requires him to pre-tape parts of his show in order to make personal appearances.

First off, I'm 38. And many of his listeners are in my age bracket. Secondly, he broadcasts from his remotes on many weekends.
