I am so looking forward to returning to S Fla this week for a little R&R. In my humble opinion, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale represent a much better than average radio market. It seems community involvement is alive and well. That whole Cop Rock benefit concert thing sponsored by Majic 102.7 demonstrates the advantage terestial radio has to non-local radio competition.
Sleeping in to me is getting up past 5AM. Over the past few weeks I have become completely addicted to Bruce Kelly and Donna Davis on Majic. I have a feeling the ratings will show good audience growth. And so while I'm tinkering around in the 4AM hour, there is Bruce already in the studio preparing for the show. Sometimes the perception is those in radio walk into the studio a minute before show time and it just happens. I've always realized there are exceptions. Anyway, thanks Bruce and Donna. Your efforts show and if this helps keep oldies alive - you have my loyalty!
In the latest trends, I've noticed the Coast is virtually at a tie with the long market leader, WLYF. Very surprising to me. When I'm driving around, I'm going to give them both a good listen. From streaming, I can't tell why Coast is so popular. Maybe listening in real time and being able to flip between the stations will show something else.
Anyway, just can't wait to return "home." Hopefully the rain will stay away. Where I am, we've had some 30 inches of the stuff in the past few weeks. Enough already. Later. ;D
