Live365 X5000 package

Any Live365 X5000 broadcasters on the forum?

I'm considering doing this and wondered if you were happy with your stations
or not.

I've only run as a personal premium station so far. X5000 would mean
an extra station for me.

I checked out your station, the only problem was the audio quality at 8kbps makes the songs sound like the speaker is under water.

We stream sports events, but use 20kbps and it makes music sound a little better.

I know..that's why I want to do the upgrade..I can go to a Cd quality audio
and run a higher kbps. Despite the 8 kbps the station has great numbers.

The concept of what you're doing is very nice. Didn't mean to give you only negative feedback! I'm going to go back and check it out further today.

What is their interpretation of the kbps rate for "CD quality audio?" 128?

You could probably get away with 32 or even 24.

Thanks..I know the 8 is very slow..took the station down a little earlier
to do some engineering..that is a 'live' feed and not really any mp3s.
I'm ripping a basic library to mp3 so it can stay on the air while I'm finishing up the rest.

A friend of mine has run his at both 32 and 24 and both sounded good. I'm
putting a DSL hub in now so that should help speed things up.

TheX5000 broadcasters get premium distribution to iTunes, TiVo and such.
My stations on X5000 would be a classic contemporary Christian and a memories
(oldies/crossover country/standards mix). The 8kbps station will get a boost, probably to 24, but is not a X5000 station and is considered 'personal premium.'
So it will never get to iTunes and such.

What I haven't quite figured out..since the X5000s can't sell instream ads but have to pay $2k to SoundExchange..is the content providers (broadcasters)
income source.

You'll probally find more responce if you post your questions in live365's own broadcaster green room. The reason they do not allow the ads on x5000 is because their placing their own ads to cover your "bandwidth costs" the 2000$ you pay is directly to sound exchange for roryalties under the Small Webcasters Act, live365 is covering your "500 slots and 10GB of storage space on their server" by running their own ads, that's how I understand the x5000 package. You also know with the x5000 you must broadcast files off their server and not "live"
