Living in a Shortwave Converter

When I first turned on my radio in the camper I lived in for a short time, I received all kinds of shortwave stations on the AM band. (I took my radio outside the camper, and everything was "normal" again.) I could only figure that the metal frame of the camper acted as a "converter/booster" to signals that my radio received.

Has this happened to you? If so, do you have a more intelligent way of explaining this? Thanx.
