I have heard that someone in the radio "Biz" for over "20 years" is calling it quits.
Can anyone verify this and who it is.

Bob Nielson. Wait. He's dead.

In this market I can think of about 10 folks who have been here 20 years.

My understanding is there is not one but two who have decided it's time and who are both actively examining their options.

in the mindset of Horseshack (Welcome Back Kotter)...

ooh ooh ooh ooh... Is it Frankie Warren?

ooh ooh ooh ooh... Is it Kevin Lynn?

Jeff Walker?

Walker? The thing says "Legend".

Though truth be told, I can name a bunch of long-timers but can't think of a "legend".

Hmmmmm............. Let me see. Are his initials B.W.? Does he work outside of the immediate Scranton/W-B area? ;)

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!! You have won nothing!
It is Brian Wilken from BGM in Honesdale.

Not up on my Honesdale radio lore, legend? I'll take your word for it.

A better use of this thread is he's leaving radio so where is he going...and are they hiring?

And so it's not Frankie Warren then? Ear to the ground says he's getting boned on his contract. Those are ironclad. Haha.

Frankie leaves, that makes an opening for movement for others "across the street" as they say. Non-competes really unenforceable nowadays. I can see a domino effect there. And that's just rumor, the Frankie thing I mean.

"Non-competes really unenforceable nowadays." Really? Show me a land mark case that justifies this. NO COMPANY WILL CHALLENGE NON A COMPETE IF THE OTHER COMPANY IS WILLING TO FIGHT. I don't care how they are written, nobody is willing to take the hassle or lose the connections they have with another company. Sure, a judge may limit it to 3-6 months, but the companies have to pay lawyers and that's too much. I definitely think Citadel would FIGHT for Frankie. Besides, where would he go...Oh, sorry to go off topic...

Good luck Brian. Are there any jobs where you are going?

As of last year, Non Competes are ILLEGAL in every sense of the word in both New York and PENNSYLVANIA!

Is that for sure? I mean, can you post a link to the legislation or whatever says it is officially illegal in PA because if it's true that is one outstanding bit of information.

Walker is no legend for sure. I wonder if he ever got a raise at KRZ? He started there for something around $125 or $135 a week. The KRZ big beards i.e. wigs "thought" he would stay a short time and then move on so he would not have to be fired. Big thing at KRZ.... remember Dave London or Jay Daniels (yes Daniels & Webster guy (when he worked there? BANG out the door.

Now legends in this market?????

The most well know for years was Harry West, but you have to be on AARP to remember Harry these days. Matter of fact, I bet even Harry is on AARP. Just haveing some fun folks,no nasty post please.

Oh my God, cut me a break. "legend"? Wilken? only at the Wayne county bars and in his mind.

Yeah, I thought the "Living Radio Legend" was a fun thing.
I really don't know if there are openings where he is going. I will tell you it's out of radio.

I think working for a certain boss at Bold Gold with the initials BV "may" be the reason.

The biz need more people to get out of it and everyone would benefit. Oh yes, that's right, BV would consider himself a radio "legend". LOL

George Graham is a legend, but he's got a comfortable berth at 89.9, unless there is an NPR place that needs a good producer.
