I wouldn't say that Liz is being "fired". It sounds like it's mutual -- the show wasn't doing well in the ratings and Liz wants to focus full-time on ministry. I believe that if Liz wanted to anchor any newscast at WBZ on a regular basis, I'm sure that they would keep her.
The days of a mega sponsor --Blue Cross-- employing a clique so that they will do a show only a miniscule amount of viewers --on Sundays-- will see, are over. Liz and her production staff remained gainfully employed, but someone has to be watching otherwise it's just make-work. My guess is nobody would take up "BC's" money role.
Who wouldn't want to continue a gig like that. I don't buy the fact that Liz didn't but she was fortunate to find "BC" behind her as long as they were.
Didn't she report for the "Travel Department" segment of "PM Magazine"/ "Evening Magazine" back in the 1980s? The name and the station she was based out of seems familiar.

Back in the glory days...when 'BZ and 'CVB fought tooth and nail to put on arguably the BEST local newscasts in the country. I went to school in Boston in the 80's and watched Liz and Jack on Eyewitness News NIGHTCAST!
