Loads and loads of unknown songs - need IDs on them.

1-min samples only because I don't have the paid version of Total Recorder, so recording something makes a brief loud static noise after 1 minute.
After downloading a lot of spiritof67's JRN airchecks, I discovered all of these unknown smooth jazz songs. Many came off the Love 95.3 KZSP airchecks - all between 00 and 01. I use Tunatic and Google to look up most of the songs I hear on the airchecks, but some just say "Song not found". These are the "Songs not found." Perhaps some smooth jazz experts can ID these songs.

UNK SONG 10 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/kc0f17hs64fx1dj/unknown_jrn_song_10.wma (I've heard this unknown song on KOAZ as well a few times. Still don't know who does it. This came off of the 1/25/2000 KZSP aircheck.)

unknown jrn song 2.wma = Kim Waters "Hudson River Nights"

unknown jrn song 3.wma = Sammy Peralta "Trust Me (I Gotta Go)"

unknown jrn song 4.wma = K-OTIC "Until the End of Time"

unknown jrn song 8.wma = Kombo "Talk the Talk"

Please verify these through YouTube, etc.

Best of luck.

#4 is way off - K OTIC is an EDM group that was formed years after the airchecks.
The other 3 are ID'ed thanks to you - thanks a lot! Now I need the other 7...some of those sound like they are from the 1980s.

I bet you Shazam doesn't help that much on most instrumentals anyways. I'm waiting for someone who listened to Jones SJ a lot and recognizes the other 7 songs. 2, 3 and 8 are now IDed.

-crainbebo

Have you tried Soundhound?

I don't use Soundhound either. Without the apps on a PC it is useless.

-crainbebo

Ran them all through SoundHound and it identified 6 of the songs.

Track 1 = Earl Klugh - Whispers and Promises
Track 2 = Kim Waters - Hudson River Nights
Track 3 = Sammy Peralta - Trust Me (I Gotta Go)
Track 4 = Ralf Illenberger - Heart and Beat
Track 5 = Ricardo Silveira - Tell Me All About It
Track 8 = Kombo - Talk the Talk

Still need to find 6, 7, 9, and 10. Shazam did not identify any of those.

Wow! Tnx for IDing 1, 4 and 5! Ricardo Silveria seems to be a very unknown artist; mostly Brazilian jazz. The song you IDed was from 1992.
Heart & Beat by Ralf Illenberger seemed to be from 1990. Whispers & Promises (Earl Klugh) was from 1989.

I *have* heard 10 before on other stations but the on-air jocks never ID it. 6/7/9 only on the old Jones recordings I posted. The tapes were from 00 and 01.
There will be more UNID songs to post soon - there's a lot more from the old Jones network that I couldn't figure out an identification to.

The only one of those 6 I know I've heard before is Talk the Talk by Kombo, WFMZ's AccuWeather Channel frequently plays it and I've also heard it on the wav.

More clips of unknown songs from 2000-2001. I KNOW I've heard #12 before on the long-gone KWJZ 98.9 in Seattle. But forgot the song title/artist.

UNK SONG 11 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/j2kolffpa3jv9pg/unknown_jrn_song_11.wma
UNK SONG 12 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/4hyu5k4g9pbwytj/unknown_jrn_song_12.wma
UNK SONG 13 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/cocqo4hmk646cx1/unknown_jrn_song_13.wma
UNK SONG 14 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/5ddlpiuw2cs7cai/unknown_jrn_song_14.wma
UNK SONG 15 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/3k6fpr10s3uy41y/unknown_jrn_song_15.wma
UNK SONG 16 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/owjuppuih7u6cub/unknown_jrn_song_16.wma

And bonus points for this unknown "Ain't No Sunshine" cover. Man and woman, sound like they are an African-American duo, have looked EVERYWHERE for this one but never IDed. Heard on KSRW-FM Bishop CA last year. Slow jazzy cover.

According to Soundhound:
Track 12 is "Just Between Us" by Boney James
Track 13 is "Castaways" by Tim Weisberg
Track 14 is "Lady" by Gerald Veasley
Track 15 is "Key Witness" by Gregg Karukas (featuring Gary Herbig)
Track 16 is "Japanese Girl" by Rob Mullins

11 and the Ain't No Sunshine covers are the only unknowns.

WOW!! Thanks for IDing these! I have heard "Just Between Us" before on the old KWJZ-98.9 in Seattle but the "Tunatic" software I have can't ID the song, pfft.
13 was from 1990 and I have been looking everywhere for this track ID. Thanks.
15 must have been one of Gregg's first albums. He was more popular in the early 2000s than early 1990s.
16 was an old 1988 track, never heard of Rob Mullins before, but he has released some newer albums.

Ain't No Sunshine cover sure seems HARD to ID. It has a man and woman duo, sounds like African-American. Halfway through the song there is a harmonica solo. They switched the lyrics around a bit, turning from "when she's gone" to "when you're gone". I've looked everywhere for this cut to no avail.
Would love to see the other 4 or 5 cuts IDed soon by someone else. They seem like very old tracks to me.

I have some advice: Download Soundhound or Shazam if you have a smartphone, tablet, or Windows 8 computer (Shazam is available on Windows 8).

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/g3bwfa84y02xl3a/unknown+jrn+song+2.wma is the title track from Lee Ritenour's 1989 album "Color Rit".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/sytw63za3qpjpp4/unknown+jrn+song+3.wma is "Afterglow" by Craig Chaquico from his excellent 2002 album "Shadow and Light". Vividly remember hearing this several times on The Weather Channel.
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/5mx5zd6pjcl8qg4/unknown+jrn+song+1.wma is the title track from Najee's 1988 album "Day by Day".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/ct834tg54p0cn0b/unknown+jrn+song+4.wma is "Treasure" by Roy Ayers on his 1995 album "Naste".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/xbtx6b6fsyhhdc6/unknown+jrn+song+8.wma (the one you thought was Larry Carlton) is actually by Earl Klugh. "Close to Your Heart" from his 1985 album "Soda Fountain Shuffle".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/hz490yrdshtv4ss/unknown+jrn+song+5.wma is "24/7" by Nelson Rangell on his 1999 album "Always".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/0bwz8audc67pub5/unknown+jrn+song+12.wma is indeed by Kirk Whalum, "There You'll Be" on his 2000 album "Unconditional".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/egpq472uxyba3jp/unknown+jrn+song+13.wma is "She's So Fine" by Blake Aaron (featuring Glen Adams) on his 2003 album "Bringin' it Back".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/1thfl9741kv1psr/unknown+jrn+song+14.wma is an underrated Rippingtons tune, "Seven Nights in Rome" on "Black Diamond" from 1997.(one of my favorite Rippingtons albums) This got airplay on The Weather Channel as well.
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/wazdh88v0e152c8/unknown+jrn+song+15.wma is Brian Tarquin's cover of The Doors' "Riders on the Storm", on his 2001 album "High Life".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/58i844ehaxy6ixb/unknown+jrn+song+16.wma is "Midnight Swim" by Craig Chaquico on his 1997 album "Once in a Blue Universe" (another great album). Dave Koz shows up on this track.
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/n7d6n52kd4dtdb3/unknown+jrn+song+17.wma is "Wake Up Call" by Ken Navarro on his 2000 album "Island Life".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/64gdbk0yddfujwb/unknown+jrn+song+19.wma is another rare Rob Mullins piece, "B4 U Go" on his 1989 album "Tokyo Nights".
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/66jse4w99q690xs/unknown+jrn+song+20.wma is "Coconut Road" on David Benoit's "Inner Motion" from 1991. Another one that got airplay on TWC.
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/az8w0ca1gpa1zt9/unknown+jrn+song+21.wma is "Friday Night Hang" by Jeff Jarvis on his 2000 album "Midnight Drive".

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/8x3honxxg8v6tns/unknown+jrn+song+18.wma is the only one neither app could identify.

Thanks a lot! For some reason, the Unconditional album, when I looked at it, had no mention of There You'll Be in the track listing. Maybe a "hidden track"?
Rob Mullins obviously is rare to hear, and "B4 U Go" is another example.
Confusing at times, I mix up Earl Klugh sometimes with Larry Carlton.
