Local Cable News for Buffalo?

I don't know why, but my previous post(as well as a few other posts in other threads in other sections) have gone missing.

Anyways, I don't mean to sound weird but why doesn't Buffalo have a local cable news outlet like Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and New York? Is it because five of the stations have news on them, plus Time Warner carries a few Canadian channels? Or is just lack of willingness to create one?

I can see it now:
F1RST NEWS 11
Serving Buffalo/The Falls/Canada

Thoughts?

I think the simple answer is: give it time.

Adelphia was obviously more concerned with their Empire Sports Network cable channel and radio -- and no surprise, with John Rigas owning, and son Tim presiding over the Buffalo Sabres.

Now that Time Warner has officially taken over, I would assume plans for a local cable news operation could be in the works, but it could be awhile before that happens. I'm guessing TW has plenty of other priorities to take care of first. Even though the Adelphia logos are all gone and TW is running the show, I suspect they're still doing lots of behind-the-scenes work to convert from the "Adelphia way" of doing things to the "TW way" of doing things. For example, the Utica system is probably due for a channel lineup rearrangement -- as of yet, News 10 Now from Syracuse is still on a triple-digit slot on the digital tier, when it should be on channel 10. Not only would that make sense, but it would also make the channel accessible to more viewers, and thus allow TW to make more earnest efforts in approaching Utica-area sponsors.

If I am correct in that general assumption, plans for a local cable news channel could get underway once all this behind-the-scenes stuff is completed. Considering there's a lot of on-paper planning to do before any actual work can begin, I suppose they could already be talking about it, but nothing more.

The first big question would likely be, does TW give Buffalo its own dedicated channel, or do they expand Rochester's "R-News" operation (likely with a new name) to cover both markets? If anything, I'd expect a combined channel to have its HQ in Buffalo, and R-News would become the Rochester bureau. But, if budgets allow, TW would be much, much better off giving Buffalo its own channel for a number of reasons that I won't get into here because you can probably imagine them on your own.

If there is a local/regional news channel launched by Time-Warner in Buffalo, it will probably be originated at least initially from Rochester, where TW has substantial investment in both facilities and personnel. They would probably create a satellite studio with a reporter or two detailed specifically to cover Buffalo and Niagara Falls stories and feed them back to master control, but the anchoring and final editing would probably come out of the big facility on Mt. Hope Avenue in Rochester for quite some time. Maybe they'd eventually use the facilities Adelphia built for the Empire Sports Network, if those still exist and are still available. But initially, creating a full duplicate production and anchor team for Buffalo wouldn't make much sense economically until a Western NY news channel developed its own revenue stream.

One thing is certain...carriage on Cogeco and Rogers cable systems in Ontario would be extremely unlikely, if not impossible, under Canadian regulations. So that tagline, "First News 11, Serving Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Canada", would probably never become reality.

Thanks for the replies...

The dream tag is just something I made up, and I realize that would never come to fruitation in Canada. Also I forgot that Time Warner had just taken over Adelphia in Buffalo, so it makes sense to me now as to why no cable news channel locally. OH well, I still dream:

The Empire studios are still available and used for Time Warner Channel 13.
