Local Coverage of Virginia Tech Shooting

What I've heard is that WHDH has a reporter there and WJAR is sending Larry Estepa there and will begin live reports tomorrow on Sunrise. I've directly contacted WLNE, suggesting that they pull out all the stops to cover the local effects (a man from Lincoln is among the dead). I told them to go live from Lincoln tonight, but more than likely, the report will be done in the newsrooom, as is unfortunately always the case.

This one was way out of proportion, but I also suggested that maybe they could send a reporter to VT. When I look at WLNE, I feel bad for the reporters. They're probably itching to go more places, but can't because due to nobody watching them, no money comes in. If they do send a reporter, I'm sadly not expecting a live report. However, I'm thankful for whatever they do.

But if they choose to blow the story altogether, the least they can do is broadcast tonight's expanded edition of World News Tonight in full, because Entertainment Tonight is really in bad taste. Honestly, do we need to hear more about Anna Nicole Smith when we just had a national tragedy?

Unfortunately, WLNE disappoints. Not only did they not have their reporter live in Lincoln, but adding insult to injury, they reported on how U-Mass Dartmouth was handling the shooting. I think that's a long distance to travel. Wouldn't you have rather stayed in Providence like everyone else and not put so much work into coming all the way to Mass?

What I'm simply trying to say is........... STAY OUT OF MY AREA!!!!!! For Christ's sake, cover Fall River for a change. It's embarrassing seeing the worst station in the market always covering my area, especially when it's not needed. My area is not important. I get mad when they cover New Bedford, and I get mad when the other 2 cover Fall River.

I know that was probably the most senseless thing I've ever said, but I felt I needed to get that off my chest.

Here's some more good news. WPRI is sending Jarrod Holbrook down to VT. Probably to compete with WJAR. Once again, it's an example of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. There are probably reporters at WLNE that want to go down there but can't because nobody watches them and as a result, there's nobody that gives a care to invest in doing something good. Boy I hope I'm proved wrong at 11.

But watch when something happens in New Bedford, and who's the first and only one there. It's embarrassing to me.
