I would like to get your thoughts on the new "Local First Forecast" on WTXF FOX 29. I think that this is the best weather segment in Philadelphia TV. The graphics and the new doppler rader are great.

No, I would like your thoughts other than "I think that this is the best weather segment in Philadelphia TV. The graphics and the new doppler rader are great." How about why you feel this? Maybe you could compare it to the other stations weather reports, provide video captures, and tell us what they were doing historically.
If you do that, maybe I will tell you what I think of it.

It is way better than the others and I'm finally glad that FOX 29 has live doppler radars. They was the last TV station in Philly that didn't have a live radar until Monday. Before that, their weather segment was "Big Picture Weather" and It was not good. The graphics was bad and so was the radars.

This is going to be like the men's razor wars. One good blade does the job, but people keep buying into the two is better, so three must be even better...and a "quatro" must shave you seven inches below the skin.

Four radars? Yippee. Who's next in with five? Do I hear six?

Here's what I want to know as a viewer: is it going to rain tomorrow? About how hot/cold will it be?

All of the green blobs on the screen with "Super Duper, Mega, Tracker, Watch, 86,000,000,000" names for the radars are extraneous.

You say "It is way better than the others," but you do not say why. Is it because they have "live doppler radars" now? Why wasn't the previous incarnation of the weather segment "not good" and why were the "graphics was bad [sic] and so was the radars?" Can you please explain with anything specific such as your rationale for what is good or bad? Or is this yet another case of you not having any thoughts?

I say: My sentiments exactly. Congratulations Nertz.

As far as these new radars go...it's nothing special. It's more sillyness by television stations to get viewers to think they have this new weather tracking system...when really they are pretty much saying what the National Weather Service is forecasting anyway. It's all a gimmick, just to get people to watch and sample their newscast. And the stations pay their consultants to tell them what to do. It's just another reason for stations to waste money on alleged high tech equipment instead of giving their employees raises. Employees aren't allowed to work overtime, because management claims they don't have any money...but the stations always seem to find money to build new sets and get new radar equipment.

The station I work for has the "Live Pinpoint Doppler 12" radar. It's really no different then what the two competing stations in the market are using. In my opinion, our station's "radar" looks better on the air...the graphics, the presentation, etc. The only difference out of the three stations is that the lowest-rated station in the market updated their weather graphics recently.
