local flavored oldies on wcbs-fm

this is for us older listeners, I was curious if wcbs-fm ever played local nyc oldies when they were still kinda new 1972 to 1976. They probably played the hit oldies like wcau-fm, kool-fm and all the other cbs owned fm signals throughout the country which jumped on the nostalgia bandwagon, after the prototype wcau-fm became so successful from the start. The songs I am talking about are gloria - vito and the salutations, coney island baby - excellents, pizza pie - norm fox, darling lorraine - knockouts, imagination - quotations, whenever a teenager cries - reperata and the delrons, bells of rosarita - admirations, the bells - van dykes and on and on. I know there was the doo wop shop and the sock hop which may of played them but I am curious if these tunes were programmed during the regular format. The closest I got was someone telling me they has a specific jingle "DOO WOP GOLD" and played a local group, but I don't know if that's correct or not.

I read that 101 WCBS FM stood out from other oldies stations and the playlist was somewhere in the 1000's at one point, possibly 1,500?
They actually played four decades of music and Joe McCoy was PD. Dan Ingram was one of the station's jocks.
Yes there were doo wop and specialty programs. You must have been lucky to experience a BIG playlist like that!
