Local issues talk shows

I am a recent transplant to the ATL from way south of the gnatline and one of things I was really looking forward to was local talk shows. It seems like the only local issues show is Martha Zoller out of Gainesville. As far as I can tell the morning shows on GST and WSB are news shows and not really issues talk. Since he went national, Boortz can't really do state and local issues regularly and you have the Giggler on GST in the afternoon. I have worked at some really small operations that were talk and no matter how small we always had a local issues show for at least an hour a day. Surely the big boys here can do a local issues show.

Rick;

Haven't you heard? The corporate suits want homogized radio, that sounds the same in every market nationwide. That is what makes their arguments against satellite radio so absurd. They claim listeners want it live and local but they won't give it to them!

Hmmmmmmmmm!!! In Albany, there's no live and local morning talk show on WALG either! All syndication, all the time! All boring, if you ask me! Sad, but true.
Edited by radionut987 on 07/22/05 05:06 PM.

You could check out Ike Newkirk's show on 790, Sunday mornings from 6 to 9. You'll hear the folks who believe Kerry really won the election, and that the plane never crashed into the Pentagon.

Rick you ignorant (BLEEP)! Who the F cares about local issues? I and my fellow posters are not concerned one bit about anything local. Especially, in such a provincial hamlet as Atlanta. Give us national issues, things we all care about. And if it leans right, all the better. In fact, I can't wait for all the right thinking radio hosts to tell us how John Roberts (by the way, true story, I used that name as my fake name at the Wabash Hotel in 1987 when I took a lady there to have my way with her.) is being done over by the hate-mongering liberals who are ruining this country. That's what we all really want. JackAss!

(BTW, Rick, since you are new, most of my posts are laced with a dash of sarcasm.)

When I worked over there at Star 94, I'd meet him in the halls and it was always a pleasure to "chat" with Ike.
