Local Music Shows

Wondering if there are any local music shows on air in this market? In the Providence market there is WBRU's Home Bru'd and Cool 102's The Cheap Seats.

The Eclectic Picnic. Sundays on 95.9FM/WATD, Marshfield. (959watd.com)

Airs just after the Mid-Day News with Garo Hagopian.

Breaking new and local artists that corporate radio doesn't.

It's Radio The Way It's Meant To Be!

Also on WATD is Almost Famous Tuesdays 8-10pm. Featuring the best new local independent music coming out of all corners of The South Shore, Boston & New England. I co-host with Lisa from the morning show. In addition we invite an artist/band to the studio for an interview and to play a few songs unplugged. The format is heavily rooted in rock/pop but we also play country/Americana, blues/folk etc. Please check out the facebook page - www.facebook.com/almostfamousradio.

Maybe we should start a local music radio program open facebook group and share the word with potential listeners and guest musicians.

I'd imagine there's quite a lot of local music played on the various "college radio" outlets, especially when viewed in the aggregate. Probably there's also some shows devoted specifically to local music on those stations, but I'd imagine they also tend to come and go from semester to semester as the student roster churns.

I suppose you could go to each college station's website and look at their "schedule" page and make some intelligent guesses just based on the individual shows' names as to whether or not they're devoted to local music. Admittedly, this is a somewhat time-consuming and prone-to-error method. :-\

WXRV also does a "Homegrown Spotlight" at 10pm every weeknight.

WMWM Salem State Trax of the Towns with Doug Mascott Sun 9-noon, including appearances by artists like Tokyo Tramps, Jon Macey (Fox Pass), Sal Baglio (Stompers), Ted Solovicos/Mike MacIver (Brittanica--also has been featured on Jordan Rich's show). Fran Sheehan of Boston has
stopped by or called (but doesn't play live--injury to hands)

Tokyo Tramps do Muddy Waters' Rollin and Tumblin on that show.
