LOCAL / NATIONAL ELECTION COVERAGE & COMMENTS

Since people are reading this and nobody has posted anything, I will.

On channel 11 WXIA they had 4 distinguished people on a panal (radio DJ Frank Ski
and Bob Barr are the only two I can recall). Anyway, they weren't really interviewing
them but just asking them yes and no questions.

I thought that was odd. You've got some folks who like to talk and give their views on
everything and you're just asking them yes and no questions???? That's kind of like
ordering your meal and just looking at it.

I believe XIA was doing some more in-depth interviewing of the panel on their webcast, but had to "streamline" for their cut-ins on air.

No real comments on anyone's coverage other than a few "cosmetic" notes...

1> I feel true empathy for every person in the control room who had to decide on the fly how to handle the fact that Barnes and Deal both appeared on camera to concede / claim victory (respectively) at the same time. You can't win in that situation.

2> The election graphics package that WSB-TV got with their new HD look-feel is really snazzy... looks great.

3> I wasn't a real fan of how XIA's bug covered part of the network feed image despite being in a squeezeback; and I didn't personally care for GCL completely covering the CBS network "ticker" with its own local ticker, especially since CBS was cramming so much of its info onto the bottom of the screen.
