Local New Year's Eve coverage

Just announced that two performers have dropped out of the CBS New Year's Eve show:

Zac Brown Band and Sam Hunt are out, and Lady A is now in. No reason given, but it's likely due to covid.

San Diego has continued events for now. But there are suggestions to shut down New Years events in San Diego in response to the Omicron variant.
Almost surprising that Nexstar isn't syndicating the Gatlinburg New Year's Eve balldrop, like they did the Christmas parade (though recorded).

Washington DC venues respond to a change of plans over Omicron fears on New Years.

Note this is for now going as planned on Times Square.

Just announced that two performers have dropped out of the CBS New Year's Eve show:

Zac Brown just tweeted that he tested positive for covid today, so he has dropped out of the show Friday.

While the Fox national New Year's Eve show was canceled, it turns out that Fox News is originating their own show:

They're basing it in Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon, which is not involved in the CBS special. They will also be in Times Square and New Orleans.

CBS to Ring in the New Year with "New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash" A Star-Studded Entertainment Special on Friday, Dec. 31

The broadcast will cross multiple time zones, with the traditional countdown at midnight ET, culminating with the renowned Nashville music note drop and fireworks at midnight CT.
KLAS in Las Vegas, programming this around their own local/nat'l Nexstar Vegas NYE airing the primetime portion early from 6-9 Pacific & then the late night portion after their coverage early New Year's Day from 12:35-2:35AM Pacific.

Journey stepped in for LL Cool J at Times Square, and there was no New Year’s coverage on Univision in addition to Fox’s.

ABC and CNN were the only ones covering the ball drop this year; with no Peach Drop here in Atlanta, WSB split-screened the fireworks going off in Cobb County with Times Square.

Watching the 11pm-11:35pm Peacock only portion of NBC's NYE. Skits between the performances drifting into TVMA catagory.
I watched on the NBC affiliate. I didn't think it was that dirty but then I'm used to Pete being on SNL.

I enjoyed the two of them together. Miley has a nice speaking voice, though I don't care for the way she sings.

How much of that was actually true, when they talked about how they're not really that wild?

I switched over to Ryan for the ball drop. I'll watch NBC tonight.

I watched Miley and Pete ring in the new Year. No ball drop. Guy but not Frank as Miley just started doing what she considers to be music.

I do remember hearing "Rock Around the Clock" coming from somewhere but not clearly on ABC. Now that's music.

Preliminary ratings for New Year's Eve are out: Ryan Seacrest came in first all night. CBS was 2nd, NBC was 3rd.

Ryan and ABC got a huge increase of viewers at 10PM. About 2-1/2 million more viewers.

CBS has the same number of viewers all night. Those who watched CBS stayed for the whole show.
