Local news broadcast online?

I have a question....does any local networks actually stream their newscasts online? I know of three...WDAF (Fox 4 Kansas City) broadcasts their Noon news online, KSDK (NewsChannel 5 St. Louis) broadcasts all their newscasts, including their newsmagazine "Show Me St. Louis" at 3:00 and WMAQ (NBC5 Chicago) broadcasts their 4:30 news....are there any other stations stream their newscasts online? Holla back.

WSVN-all i think
WCBS-noon, 5, 6 and 11
WUSA- i know they do their 5
WRC-10am and 4
WJLA-noon, 5 6 and 11
WDIV-4
WMAR-noon, 5, 6, and 11
WJBK-7am, 8am and 11am
(i translated all of these to EST, so if they're in a different time zone, convert)
WFOR-noon
WFRV- beginning of their 6pm
WCPO-noon, 5, 6, and 11
KTVI-noon, 6, 7 and 10
WKYT-noon, 5, 6, and 11
WJW-1pm
WRAL-noon, 5, 6, 8, and 11
WVIT-10am, 5, 6, and 11
KWQC- 1, 6, 7 and 11
WVEC-noon, 5, 6, and 11
KSBW-1am (airs on their Weather Plus channel)
KOMO-7, 8, 9, 2am
WWL-1, 6, 7
WDSU-1, 6, 7 and 11
WVUE-10
WAPT-6, 7, and 11
i think most of these work

Yeah, i had the same question on another board

* and WNYW streams their 11am

A big issue is that local stations don't have internet streaming rights to much of the "out of house" video they use for over the air newscasts. Either such material is replaced/removed for the web version, or the stations are cheating, which is highly likely. If video rights holders were to thoroughly police such streams, many stations would get clobbered by rights infringement lawsuits.

Hi everyone:

Either that or the stations that leave the commercials in are including the webcast portion of their newscasts in their contracts with advertisers. This way by doing that, they're legit.

BTW, you can add WAAY 31 and KSEE 24 to the mix too. I saw WAAY 31's morning newscast last week and I believe KSEE 24 puts them all online (It's been awhile since I checked their website though).

Cheers :D

WALB-TV/10, Albany GA streams all their local news programing live---though I don't know if that will continue if they ever get their destroyed tower replaced. WALB has an excellent, professional newscast for such a small market.

How do you figure that replacing a tower has to do with the streaming of their newscasts online? One DOES NOT have anything to do with the other.

At least it shouldn't while in the natural order of things....

Cheers :D

Yeah, WMAQ in Chicago streams their 4:30 news with the commercials in it....I live in Kansas right now and originally from Chicago and I love to see the Empire Carpets commercial......

WHYY-TV channel 12 (PBS) Wilmington Delaware airs it's "Delaware Tonight" newscast online. Interestingly, a Wilmington radio station WDEL also has a video version of its news on line as does the Wilmington News Journal newspaper. Are other radio stations and newspapers doing a video newscast or is this a Delaware thing?

Generally, no. But right now, WALB-10 is transmitting from their STL tower at the studio. Coverage, as you might expect, is below paltry. My in-laws live Putney, ~15 miles south of Albany, and the signal is doing well to make it that far (if our pocket TV is any indication!).

Cable systems in the immediate area have 'em covered, but there are plenty in the outlying region who cannot pick up the station at all. The webcast is the only way many over there can watch their newscast. As with smaller markets, it's the only source for local TV news; the other station in that part of the state, WCTV-6/Thomasville, is Georgia in name only ... their studios (and priorities) are in Tallahassee.

And yes, WALB does have a excellent news product. Very top-notch for its size.
