Local News

its not likely KNX will have a lot of San Diego coverage, and KOGO will do a better job. They are also the local primary emergency broadcast station.

David Eduardo? Could you please help me with my question? if anyone would know it would be you. :)

KOGO. Whether a station has local employees or not, it has a news department and one would assume that the news department has the needed news sources.

At a time when the master control for tv stations in San Francisco can be in LA, does it really matter if the newsroom is at the center of a market, or simply on the center pot on the board?

IIRC, didn't Cheap Channel "in-house outsource" news coverage
on KOGO in off-peak hours--evenings/overnights (maybe even
middays?)--to KFI earlier this year?

They did the same thing at KNST Tucson--after 11 AM news
coverage is fed from KFYI Phoenix, with the same anchor that
is on KFYI at :00 and :30. So you know that KNST is getting
a pre-recorded (even if by only a few minutes) newscast at
:00 and :30, and no current stats in the weather.

And even in Phoenix, KFYI has no local news coverage during
late evening and overnight.

I get all my news from Twitter. While every source isn't checked and verified, breaking news is always Tweeted long before radio or television stations have the story. The search feature on Twitter and Google's Real Time Search are powerful tools if you want to know what's going on.
