Local on the 8s getting squeezed

I noticed this weekend on The Weather Channel that not all of the "Local on the 8s" segments were not the full screen cycle of local weather information. A couple of times during the hour, they went to a split screen where the on-air personality continued on the top portion of the screen with weather reports and the lower portion had an abbreviated local synopsis. (Cox Cable Phoenix/Glendale AZ).

No, they are running programs about different kinds of nature scenarios. Fortunately we can get the weather accurately online.

MTV doesn't play music, the History Channel gives us very little History, and now the weather channel is now cutting back on weather. Lovely.

I would add the non-listings version of TV Guide Network on the digital packages for various cable and satellite services.

TWC has been squeezing "Local on the 8s" during their non-weather programming for many months, probably more than a year. I noticed the same thing during T.S. Debby when they were running "extended coverage" of the weather at a time when Storm Stories or some of their reality programs were scheduled.

I would add the listings THEMSELVES to TV Guide Network. Afterall, isn't that what the channel was put on the air for?

Just sayin'

Cheers & 73 :D

Do I really have to remind people of the all-too-brief "Weather And A Movie" era on TWC?

Yes, I agree. However, the expanded availability and evolution of the internet along with smart phones over the years basically have made many channels like MTV, Weather Channel, and TV Guide Network obsolete. We may not like what the certain channels have become, but that's the way it is now.
