Form letter in my inbox today, from KPRI's owner. For the record, I signed up as a frequent listener years ago and don't email them.

Dear Hans,

I love hearing all the great things you freeqs say about KPRI. It really makes me feel good.
However, recently we disappointed a lot of you and like Harry Truman used to say: "The buck stops here."

I'm responsible for the fact that we grossly overbooked the recent Private Listener Concert starring Barenaked Ladies. I want you to know that I regret that this happened.

If you're upset with us, I don't blame you.

The artists love it when they hit the stage and play to a packed house of KPRI Freeqs.
However, the large number of KPRI listeners who went away disappointed is unacceptable.
Had we been paying closer attention, we would have noticed that these shows have become a lot more popular and response is way up.

Here's what we've done. Some people pick up tickets and then don't use them. That happens. So to insure a full house, we over-book. As of today, I've reduced significantly the amount of over-booking we do. I've also asked our staff to more closely monitor the ratio between tickets we hand out and tickets that get used. If necessary, we'll reduce over-booking even more.

Now, I'd like a chance to make it up to you. If you tried to attend Barenaked Ladies - and you did not get in, please take a minute and let me know. Just click on the link the link below and send me an e-mail.

This will put you on my "special treatment" list. We'll use it to make sure we give you first chance to take advantage of some fun things coming up.

Thank you for listening and being a Registered KPRI Freequent Listener.

Somehow, I don't think a corporate station would EVER send a letter like that.

Props to KPRI.

and props to you, Hans. I got that e-mail too. Bob Hughes is a good guy, grew up in the NYC area as I did and he (as I was) was an avid fan of WNEW-FM in its progressive rock days.
