Norfolk, NE = NO-FORK. Nice town...if you don't eat steak....

Nope.

It's NOR-FORK

In VA, it's Nor-fawk

In CT its Nor----- (yes, there really is a Norfolk, CT!)

When I was driving through the Midwest last year, I stopped to spend a night at a motel in Norfork, NE. It sounded like everybody there called it "NO-FORK". So I ate at burger joints....My bad if I got it wrong.....

Bongwater,

No apologies needed, was just correcting you.

The pronounciation "Nor-fork" in Nebraska comes from the original name of the town, North Fork... it was shortened to Norfork, but, some postmaster thinking it was misspelled, simply started referring to it as Norfolk.

By the way, the town in Connecticut that got bleeped out is Norfolk, but it's pronounced Nor(4 letter word beginning with f and ending with k)

No problem. One thing Norfolk, NE DOES have uniquely radio wise is one of the westernmost radio call signs beginning with "W" (WJAG 780).....
