Today's TV Newsday features a "Market Share" article by Arthur Greenwald. Greenwald talks about putting the "cool back in broadcasting." (http://tvnewsday.com/articles/2007/07/16/daily.1/)
Greenwald features WCVB's "Chronicle". He also mentions forming a partnership network similar to the "Evening/PM Magazine" formula. (A flashback fansite of "Evening:" http://www.evening-pm.org/)
While I, too, lament the loss of local programming on stations, I question the appeal of "Hi, Mom" onlookers as is detailed. It seems like everyone has a camera and is taping bits for YouTube. Why not expand upon that? Have the community tape segments (free talent and production!) for air. You've got an entire market that could be your Tipsters.
