...while the satellite competitors are betting on personalities, commercial radio is betting on HD2: high-definition radio technology that will hit the top 25 markets in early 2006 with niche channels of digital quality...(Clear Channel's) Joe Bevilacqua predicts in five years terrestrial and satellite will be "on a level playing field." At that point, he suggests, satellite may not be able to stick to its promise of commercial-free programming. Then it will be a battle of content...Radio execs are scratching their heads over satellite radio's business model, which they see as precarious: "You get a couple of superstars. Even if you get 20 of 'em. After a while, is that going to be enough? It's so fragmented," Remington said. "I'm curious to see how it's going to play out."..<snip>
