Local shows on The Zone

Now that "Lew and Mike" have left for 890 ESPN, Whats left at the zone for local programing? With the Jimmy Fund telethon on WEEI last week, I had a chance to listen to the Zone. The Young Guns and Chris Vallani in the Morning is an alternative to Mike and Mike and D&C..Most of the crew are syracuse grads but could be an adjustment to Lew and Mike listeners. The Steve Sweeney Show is still going and former Diehard Anthony Pepe is his Co-host. But it was all sporting news till The trivia show at 4pm with kevin koffman who does a great job, and Joey Murrs show at 5pm which I enjoyed finished off the day before Religion....

Not much going on with local programming on the zone,as i understand it is Time Buy

But if you look at ESPN, its just Salk and Halloran and Lew and Mike as local shows... That makes 6 local shows in Boston besides WEEI... I hope the Zone can stay sports. it has fresh local Talent that i do enjoy..

Their site http://www.1510thezone.com needs to be updated, though

A Web designer who figures s/he can get more attention for him/herself by being the person behind the Zone's Web site, could almost certainly make a deal with the station to take over the site and sell the ads on it her/himself. This would, in effect, be the same deal that the talent that appears on the station has. Just as the station has the license and the signal but makes its $$$ by selling time to the highest bidder, the station would have the server space and the URL but little else associated with the site. It would be up to the entrepreneurial Web designer to provide the content and find the revenue sources. The only problem I see is that the station would have to find a way to ensure that the Web site would tie in with--and promote--the on-air product (such as it is).

I don't know if it was a one-time thing, but there was no Steve Sweeney show this morning (Thursday).

I don't ordinarily listen to Steve but I heard the Young Guns guys saying that Anthony Pepe and someone else were filling in for him yesterday

It sounded to me like generic Sporting Gnus Radio (talking about college sports, a real draw hereabouts); but S.S. was back Friday.

Sweeney was back this morning, but I couldnt help but listen to D&C today, and they had Brady on. I caught a bit of Young Guns this am... but the Patriot talk on WEEI was great.
