Local Sixers and Flyers broadcasts on cable only this season

As you know by know all local broadcasts of the Flyers and Sixers games will be seen on cable only this season. Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network will televise the games. I would like to get your comments on this. IMO, I'm not surprised by this. It was a matter of time before something like this would happen because everyone has cable now, especially ones that have comcast because they have the 2 channels CSN and CNPH in their systems in this market for viewers to see the games. But I really think that comcast should at least start talking to the other cable providers in this region including FIOS, RCN, Service Electric  and ask them to carry Comcast Network. It wouldn't make sense for a Philly sports fan living in Allentown for example to have one channel (CSN) but not the other (Comcast Network) to watch all the games.

Comcast already offers Service Electric in Allentown the games. SE airs them on one of their channels. Much like Comcast in Northern DE carrying Orioles games on an access channel somewhere in analog, but not the whole CSN-MidAtlantic with Wizards or Capitals.

They won't offer Verizon because Verizon directly competes with Comcast, and it's just a marginal amount of games that Verizon will overlook it in their cookie cutter business model for Fios TV, and won't politically make a stink about it. Verizon probably doesn't want to complain anyways if they have it considered - DirecTV and Dish have a lot less (no CSN rights at all), and they figure they can sell more HD, WGN and international alacarte, bundled at a lower price that will offset the loss of those additional Philly games.

Couldn't modify the above post: Comcast in Wilmington, DE carries MASN & MASN2, because Orioles claim all of Delaware, and the Nationals were granted the same territory as Orioles.

Better yet, how about adding Comcast to DirecTV?

Maybe this will be brought up with the FCC before Comcast can buy 1/2 of NBC. There is also an issue with VS no longer on DirecTv because Comcast wants to charge too much.

VS is a waste of a channel

They do have the NHL if you're a hockey fan. I believe when a hockey game is on VS, it's not on the local sports channel, ie CSN here, NESN in New England.
