Local sports stations stink.

Just moved to the DFW area and man-oh-man do the local sports talk shows suck. I moved from Nashville and thank God I can still listen to them on the internet.

I like the music stations better here but I am extremely disappointed in the sports talk. I expected better from DFW. I knew there would be a TON of Cowboys talk, etc. but it's the people on the show that are dull and boring to me.

Maybe I just need to give it more time. I have found a few non-sports shows that I do like.

I usually listen to 1310 KTCK "The Ticket"

He's no doubt listening to the Fan. According to the book, you and about 4 other people are listening to 105.3 The Fail.

1310 "little buddy"!!! It's #1 for a reason.

I cannot stand 105.3 "The Fail". It is constant talk about the Cowboys even in the off season. I remember last June my wife and I were taking a road trip and I bet her lunch that 105.3 would mention football within 10 minutes of the trip. She thought I was crazy since it was the middle of the baseball season. Boy that free lunch was good.

I also recently discovered the ticket and it is amazing compared to 105.3. They talk about all sports including high school sports. Well maybe not so much hockey buy we all know why. They also don't have loud mouthed women who really don't know anything about sports. Finally, they make fun of all the local pro sports teams when they suck. They are not afraid of Jerry like 105.3.

You said it, I didn't.

Yes, I have been listening to 1310 and am trying to get familiar with the people there.

Is 105.3 the espn station? I think that's the station that I listened to and thought "this sucks". LOL. And do they even play any espn shows at all? I only hear locals. I did hear Colin Cowherd a little this afternoon.

So can you guys give me a list of all the sports stations in the DFW area? I've been searching while out and programming what I find into my truck radio so I can flip around and sample a little of each show.

105.3 is KRLD-FM. The ESPN station in this market is KESN 103.3 FM.

1310 The Ticket (also on 104.1 FM in the northern Part of the Market)
103.3 ESPN
105.3 The Fan

That's it? Wow.

Thanks.

How many you want? Three is too many.

LOL. Maybe. But I thought for the DFW area there would be more for some reason.

All I need is ONE that's good. ;D I may need to reconsider my Sirius/XM option again. I cancelled it when I got back to Nashville a few years ago.

bigmikegh,
Did you listen to The Zone in Nashville? I listen to The Ticket every day online here in Middle Tennessee. The Ticket takes a little time to "get" some of the stuff, but after you do.

Yes, the "Wake-up Zone" is my favorite show and most of the time I like "3HL", although I think they should have stayed in the noon-3pm slot. Clay Travis can get on your nerves sometimes but he's very insightful. Most of the time I do NOT like the "Midday180" show.

When the Zone start talking about stuff I don't care for I switch to 102.5 The Game which has people I like as well.

Take your time with the Ticket, and it will grow on you

Hosts on the air for 35 minutes an hour? Skits replayed four (or more) times a day? News of the day ignored in favor numbingly-tired, over-formatted recurring segments?

Yes, it will "grow on you," like a tumor.

That's what tickers and Norm are for. Don't agree with the "Skits" statement. Only if it's epic and will go down in Ticket lore.($5.00 and a sack of cheeseburgers ;D). That's what podcasts are for. They are trying to keep their audience engaged, not bored to the point of suicide. ::)

All three of the sports stations in Dallas are horrible. 105.3 is boring and sounds like a lame attempt at a college station, 103.3 is a straight laced sports station that is only good for short bursts of listening, and 1310 isn't funny at all. No idea why the ticket gets so much praise for what they do. So hard to listen to that station because nothing they say is funny yet it's "hilariously good". Yeah right.
