Local Station For Sale

A website called RadioStationsForSale has this listing:
"New York City Market AM suburban NYC Hispanic religious station with owned tower/studio
site in the #1 ranked US market, low market entry price. $1,900,000."

Any idea which station is being referred to? Perhaps this is an indication the market may be saturated with Spanish religious AM stations.

It seems highly unlikely the station in question is WWRV. They do not have a separate tower, but share WJDM's, according to Wikipedia.

WWRV 1330 shares 3 towers with WNYM 970 behind Riverside Square Mall in Hackensack....Wikipedia is wrong

Whether WWRV shares one tower or three with another station, the point remains that they do not have a fully owned tower. The ad in my original post states that the sale would include a tower and a studio.
In addition, WWRV puts out a signal that is stronger in New York than many of the other stations at the high end of the dial. It should be worth considerably more than 1.9 million should Radio Vision Cristiana ever decide to sell it. As they are a rather large organization, with stations in several cities inside the U.S. and in other countries, that would seem unlikely.

Sounds like it could be WWRV 1330

Much more likely to be WRVP in Mt Kisco, which is fully "in" the New York market. RVC would be making a small profit on this one, as they paid $1.36 million in 2002 for this facility.

$1.9 million is way below the value of a fuller market signal like 1330.

If the station for sale is indeed WRVP, wouldn't it be difficult to reach many listenrs with it, due to its highly directional daytime only signal?
Despite the fact that they are in central Westchester County and run 5,000 watts during the day, it is so directional that it is virtually inaudible in the southern part of Westchester or in any part of NYC. Most of their signal goes out towards western Fairfield County, relatively lightly populated northern Westchester County, and perhaps Putnam and Dutchess Counties.
in its current use as a simulcast of WWRV, it seems to compliment the other station very well by being stronger in certain areas where they are relatively weak, such as Fairfield County.

No doubt that these are the reasons why the station is only asking $1.9 million.

Perhaps the potential audience in that region is worth less than the cash in hand. Many stations that depend on donations have seen the inflow of money reduced in the last few years, and perhaps a couple of million would help with the operation of the other stations.

Could it be Polskie Radio's WLIM In Patchogue? It's currently running a Spanish Religious format. The studio/office/transmitter building sits on 5 acres in Medford NY along with 3 towers.

It could be that one, too. Either way, it's not 1330.

Another possibility could be WNYH 740 AM in Huntington, owned by a physician. The daytime station has been recently carrying Spanish religious programming from Radio Cantico. It has been through a number of leased time formats in recent years.

I'm guessing WXMC in Parsippany. They own the land (in a floodplain) and put a signal over a populated area, hence the asking price. I don't think the one in Mt. Kisco is worth that much. Actually, I don't think WXMC is either, but that seems to be what they're asking.

That's definitely another possibility; Morris County is in the NY MSA. Both Mt Kisco and Parsippany only have about 100 thousand people in the 5 mv/m contour, making $1.9 million seem high. But Mt Kisco sold for over a million 10 years ago, while Parsippany got only $200 k about 19 years ago. WLIM went for $850 k about 9 years ago.
