Local Stations

I still think the cost of the radio, 12/month, and a huge premium for mentions could do well for a local channel on Sirius. A long time ago, in a place far, far away. Each station as you traveled from town to town would have its own "Flavor" to it. Might be a good niche for the satellites to balance some impressions out. Dont pipe in a local station, nooooo. Dont build a building either. Hire a local morning show then have them pipe it in live on location or from their home studio. The "Syracuse" Channel...hmmmm. I smell money.<P ID="signature">______________

I would love to hear this, but it would have to be doen nationally...and there just isn't nearly enough bandwith.

I've always thought they could have several local stations for each market with repeaters, and just broadcast the stations on the repeaters. But they aren't allowed to do that.

I don't even know how they could use the repeaters to broadcast something different, when the frequencies they use for the satellite are the same for the repeaters. At least I think that's the case. While there is no repeater in my immediate area of Gary Indiana, I do get a weak repeater signal from Chicago, but it occasionally does show full bars on the repeater part of the signal strength, but that's usually at night though.
