Local Talk, Local Topic, Local Calls

Sunday afternoon Dan York's been hosting a local show on 1040 WWBA. Today his topic for the first hour was the latest teacher-student sex case. The language was a little salty for Genesis standards (as opposed to anyone else's) but perhaps the most shocking aspect was that he actually got CALLS -- doing a LOCAL topic -- on a LOCAL show -- something Salem and CC tell us people don't care about anymore -- in a daypart 970 and 860 have given up for dead!

Hardly shocking in 1988, STUNNING in 2008...

WWBA does a good job with their local talk, considering the miniscule resources they have, in terms of signal strength and finances, unlike that smug monopolistic "competitor" that owns the market's top AM sticks.

Anyone listen to Scott Ferrell's show weeknights? I heard a promo the other night during Savage that said, "The Rusty Humperies show is next." I thought, OMG, WWBA's already cancelled their local late-night show.
Thankfully, the promo was a misrun, and Scott came on as usual. Had a good show too.
