Local TV LLC for sale?

Sinclair seems to going after medium to small markets

If Sinclair goes after any of Local TV LLC's stations, Milwaukee will be out of the question, as Sinclair already has a duopoly with WVTV (CW) & WCGV (MNT). WITI would have to go to someone else.

The creditors that now own Tribune might look at station acquisitions on a case by case basis. So far, they're interested in keeping the TV division, but selling off the newspaper part & maybe WGN-AM (their only radio station). So I wouldn't rule out the new Tribune buying any part of Local TV. If they got WITI, it would guarantee that Antenna TV will stay on WITI.

If Sinclair would to buy local TV then I am pretty sure they would take WITI and spin off WVTV or WCGV.

Cox who owns like WFTV or a company that owns a couple of Digital Sub Channels that KC doesn't have so FOX4KC can add them.

They could always spin one off to Deerfield and run three at once. A similar case would exist in Norfolk (WTKR/WGNT/WTVZ) and Greensboro (WGHP/WXLV/WMYV) if this happened. Sinclair can't add in Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, or Richmond and they might have some issues in Des Moines and St. Louis. If this was a couple of years down the road when KTVI, KPLR, and KDNL's affiliations come up, I seriously would propose KPLR going Fox and Sinclair getting its mitts on KTVI to take that back to ABC.

Given all those possible conflicts and that they're only getting to slicing the Freedom stations, what real good would this buy do for Sinclair's bottom line?

Local TV LLC. has been for sale since the day it was formed. The problem-- Oak Hill bought those stations at the top of the market.

At this point it really can't happen, as WVTV and WCGV are in the middle of a big move to new studios and they just got a new GM. There's no way they're doing all that work and then suddenly reneging on a long term lease to get WITI. There are still scars too still fresh in the FCC's mind when Sinclair tried to buy WVTV and had a lawsuit filed against them by Jessie Jackson's PUSH coalition. The duopoly rule change made that redundant, but they will look at the station's pasts for sure. Also in mind is that WVTV has been lowered in importance over WCGV over the years.

Local TV LLC and tribune share a lot of common elements (websites, news, engineering, LMA'S in Denver and St Louis) and I can see the two merging as Local TV was formed with Randy Michael's who used to run tribune and he made certain Local and Tribune worked together so to undo all of the common areas would be more difficult as I have been told the two are more conjoined than one would think

I know one of the frequent posters on this board works for a Local TV LLC property, and I seem to remember him saying the people at his station are mostly Tribune employees despite there being no Tribune-owned stations in that market. After those stations were sold from Fox to Local, I remember hearing a lot of people were upset about Tribune's benefit package versus what they used to have at Fox.

Sinclair should get a Puerto Rico TV Station to add to their growing list of stations (WORO-TV ,WSTE-TV or Univision Puerto Rico(WLII/WSUR).
