Local TV Station Profiles The Ticket

A convenient time to put out a story about the sports station that "routinely slays their Dallas competition."

No offense, but I'll wait for the "local" TV story on Ron Chapman, featuring Jody Dean, on CBS-11, Friday night at 10, thanks.

It's a Sherman Denison Station along with an Ardmore station

Yeah, unfortunately I jumped the gun in asking... I wrote my post before reading the article/watching the vid.

I broke Rule #2 in posting or replying to messages - read the f'ing article first

Makes sense for the guys to do a story and share it with an audience that far north if they're relevant on the radio.

It's obvious the reporter Rick Springer is a huge Ticket fan. Including the well-known Ticket drops into his package clearly illustrates he's a Ticket P1 and fanboy who used his gig (which he no doubt likes) to horn his way into the studio and spend some time with his radio idols.

If I was Joe Q. TV viewer in Sherman and had never listened to the Ticket and saw this report I would be dumbfounded about all the drops that are played during the interview segments with Snake and the old Grey Wolf.

Journalism Mr. Springer? I think not.

It came in even better on 1700. Lot's of P1's up here in Big Sky Country.

With an antenna pointed to the north you can. Remember the Cowboy Antennas from the 70's? When the NFL went to a 50 mile blackout rule KXII broadcast the games and every one in Dallas bought an extra antenna to pick them up. worked until the NFL expanded the blackout to 75 miles.

It's ok unless you are in an area with lots of power influence. Useable in most of Grayson county, 104.1 is much better and 1700 was the best. Both signals are spotty at best in Fannin county though.

You nailed it. Look at the guy's profile on the KXII website.

Sounds like a lot of work for the "pleasure" of listening to barely 35 minutes of actual talk per hour.

I'M a huge fan of The Ticket, too. To paraphrase what Mike Rhyner says, they can do what we do, but we can't do what they do. Doesn't seem to matter what subject they broach. That interesting mix of personalities seems to find a way to make it compelling. And if something bombs, they turn around and use that. Their core audience is fiercely loyal, and they've spawned countless imitators. That's an enormous accomplishment.

But a story on them needs to explain them. That's far more interesting watching than flattery.

Wow, the Cowboy Antenna... I would have never remembered that. Brings back some good game day memories.
