Local TV Stations on FilmOnX.....

"For example.....Here's the Denver listing:

KCNC 4 (CBS)
KMGH 7 (ABC)
KUSA 9 (NBC)"

"Sorry, this channel is not avaiable [sic] from your country. Many more choices here"

Yeah. So apparently, television streams from the United States can't even "legally" be viewed within the United States. Don't you just love the DM¢A? Shows you how out of hand this crap really is getting.

[size=8pt]Of course, I'm not using my trusty UK or Canada proxies right now, so maybe I really should be. But not any more tonight.

Hmmm.....That's interesting to know. Country restriction.....

Anyone in the states reading this ??

No access to network TV here in Florida. All the other channel links work for foreign stations.
Did you try the links above or are you just indicating what you see on your end?

If people outside of Denver can tune in using the links above without error messages, then it should be for me to tune into stations outside of Denver. All that's needed is the correct URL (I already know that tuning in via the Windows 8 app is going to out of the question)

Cheers & 73 ;D

Your Denver links actually led me to Los Angeles affiliates which gave me error messages that I couldn't view them in my country. I played around a while but never found an option for other markets, even after entering my zip code at one time.

The news sports foreign etc links mostly worked. Horrible buffering issues on all the feeds I tried.

Could get like The Country Network,I. Talk with Rose/Millar and so on. Local Stations/Cozi TV coming soon. I would like to pick up Orlando stations even if I typed 66212.

Just like YouTube, where some videos have been blocked "in your country", even though both me and the video's uploader are in the United States.

That's what it indicated on my end when I used the links you gave. All three of them did that.

And yes, I am based in the United States.

Three Dallas stations are running now, ABC, CBS and NBC -- although now the 10 pm news is on, not network programming.

The three Dallas stations are showing up, but the Denver links show the "not available in your country" message.

Maybe they think Texas is another country ;D

Cue a Texan saying "It isn't?"

But isn't Geoblocking limited to IP address only or are there other factors at play (As well) ??

Cheers & 73 ;D

Not sure how this site got started, but I suspect once the stations and networks find out about it they will step in to close it.
They will likely claim to be doing what Aereo TV is doing, but I don't see how that's possible. I am also not sure how they're going to make money on this unless they're inserting ads into the programming. Right now you see an ad for filmon.com when you start a stream, but that's it.

I'm not sure what the point of the local channels is unless you're using a mobile device. The international channels are kinda nice though. I like being able to see Russia Today, Sky News and other foreign news channels.

I get a looped message from FilmOn saying "coming soon you can stream your local channels." Do you have to sign up for this?

Filmon has been streaming the big US broadcast networks off and on since 2010, when anyone in the world could go to their website and stream the ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC stations in Los Angeles. Unlike other websites that offer blatantly illicit live streams of the networks (streams of the Tampa-St. Petersburg stations have been available worldwide in one place or another for what seems like years now), Filmon has attempted to play nice with the networks and market itself as a legitimate service a la Aereo and a couple European equivalents mentioned below. Nevertheless, I do not believe the networks have been very pleased, and Filmon has been involved, and may still be involved for all I know, in legal proceedings.

Anyway, this latest incarnation of Filmon appears to include more than just the LA stations and is "geotargeted" such that accessing the streams requires having an IP address inside one of the markets Filmon is streaming stations from. If I go to the Filmon website right now, I get no options to watch any of the "big four" networks. However, if I change my IP address to be located in Dallas, I am able to freely watch the local "big four" (plus CW) without registering or signing up for anything. I assume the same would happen if my IP resolved to the Los Angeles market or whichever other market Filmon is in.

Filmon originally began in the UK by streaming many of the channels on the Freeview platform, including all of the biggest channels such as ITV, BBC One, BBC Two, Channel Four, and so on. Originally there was no location restriction to viewing any of these channels, but now you must have an IP address located in the UK to see most of them (plus, legally, a UK television license). In the UK, Filmon appears to be competing directly with TVCatchup, a five-year-old service that has had a rocky relationship with the UK broadcasters.

If Filmon has attempted to expand to any other countries, there would be additional competitors to face. Perhaps most notably, Zattoo, which streams channels in several countries of Western Europe. There are other services out there as well that operate in just one country, but stream all of the major channels available for free within that country. Interestingly, Zattoo was developed in part at the University of Michigan but there has never been any attempt to broadcast any US networks on the service. No doubt the legal ramifications from the US networks play a role in this, but the European broadcasters have not necessarily left these streaming services alone, either. Still, the legal and regulatory system has generally been more favorable in Europe, and these services have been allowed to persist for several years now.

I'm in central Connecticut, and when I go on the site, it considers NYC TV as my "local" channels, I've tried it using different proxies like one in AZ and got Phoenix TV, another in LA and got LA TV, and I tried on in the UK and had BBC & ITV channels show up. Oh yeah, I need to try Canada.

I saw a article today that says they have 35 locals markets from Filmonx. Does anyone know what other cities are available?? I know there's Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington DC and Los Angeles. You can create a free new account and say what city your from and you can get the locals from that city. I tried it and it works.
