I spotted this story on the homepage and, to be truthful, was a bit surprised:
>>Delilah out of WLIT Chicago
For the second time in as many weeks, Clear Channel AC WLIT has opted to go local, replacing a syndicated show. As reported in this morning's TRI, this time, it's Delilah's national night program which gets axed, and is replaced by Chicago veteran John Syman's show "Love Notes." In late October, WLIT dropped the syndicated Whoopi Goldberg Show, and brought back local talent Melissa Forman for mornings. Syman previously was heard on rival AC WILV for 8 years, and before that, on WNND. "Love Notes" will debut on Thursday, Nov. 8. This is the second major market that Delilah has lost in the past two months. Her show was dropped in Los Angeles when KBIG flipped formats to "My FM" in September. <<
Could we (eventually) witness the return of local radio? A turn of events? An emerging trend?
Naaaahhhhhhhh....
