LOGAN/WSTW MORNINGS GOES BYE-BYE...WHY?

From today's AllAccess.com:Logan Resigns From WSTW MorningsLOGAN has resigned from his morning co-host position at DELMARVA Top 40 WSTW/WILMINGTON to pursue other opportunities. "I'm looking for afternoons or middays, Top 40 or Hot AC," LOGAN tells ALL ACCESS.LOGAN will be returning to DALLAS, where he still owns a home, and where he handled afternoons for CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC KDMX (MIX 102.9) before joining WSTW in FEBRUARY of this year. Previously, LOGAN was heard on great stations such as Z100/NEW YORK, WIOQ/PHILADELPHIA, WUBT/CHICAGO, and many others. Reach him at 215-534-1813, or [email protected]. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Gotta be some inside scoop on this. C'mon, STW insiders...SPILL! The guy's too good!

When Mitch Hill left in the early 90's after a long morning run, Johnny B got it for the short term, until they brought in a new male co-host. Great audition tape from his previous Allentown gig. But he hit 93.7 and it was a train wreck. The producer ran the show because the new morning host simply could not. In just a couple of months, he was gone and John Wilson, the long time pro, was moved from afternoon to the morning slot he had done before Mitch. Now its happened again. Johnny B had really worked on his skills and had gotten the morning show for his own after years at night time. This time he had a great show. Got the ratings back for the station, then moved to Texas. Delmarva broadcasting again hears a good audtion and makes a hire. Again it doesn't work. The hiring committee at Delmarva has a history of making the same mistake at their other stations. They really need to put on reasonable short term hosts and give more thought to the next full-time morning host. Don't be in such a hurry. Think it through for a change.

They also have a habit of making short-term hosts out of people who could and should have been long-term. Exhibit A: Ren Tyler, a exceptionally talented host with a unique and distinctive voice and manner.

From what I've heard, Ren Tyler never has enough rope to hang herself with...not trying to throw anyone under the bus. It's something I've heard from 4 seperate PD's who know her.

:eek:Hey....Ren Tyler here....I thought I would personally respond too this....I never did this before but I guess there is a first time for everything right?....Whomever had the kind words about me...thank you...I appreciate it!But I am curious....Derek....not that "your throwing me under the bus"....but...who are these 4 p.d.'s that said that I have enough rope too hang myself with and why would they say that about me? Maybe you would like too let us all now how my name came up so often with you in your conversations? And why would you feel the need too post that incorrect information on the boards? I mean don't ya think that would be fair and professional of you Derek? There's always your side of the story, my side of the story and the side no one ever knows.....so...next time you "don't want too throw someone under the bus"....don't until you get all the information about that jock......it would be really appreciated. ;)

Like I said...not trying to throw anyone under the bus. I've been in a couple of meetings where your name has come up. I've heard your tapes and you're a solid jock. I've given you a thumbs up as far as on air work goes. The 'not enough rope' quote isn't even mine. And you're right...I don't know you as a person and I apologize for the harsh statement. And I don't know if there was something that left a sour taste in a PD's mouth...knowing some PD's around here, that taste could be ANYTHING.Look at it this way...every person who works at Clear Channel in Delaware has to die in order for me to work in the glorious Wilmington market again.

Derek:Consider yourself lucky; at least she didn't write you a fifty-page flamefest in UPPER and lower case. ;D
Whatever case she uses and however many pages she uses...She doesn't lie.She keeps her word. The same can not be said about everyone in radio.

Hey Fred...Hey Derek....Hey Nerosix....No worries...it's all cool with me....I just figured I would chime in about myself......Thank you guys again for the kind words as well as the feedback about my on air stuff...I always appreciate that...And thank you for stickin' up for me after the wonderful additional comment from "Nerosix" ;)....oh Nero....Nero...Nero....somethings never change..... :-* Rock on...Ren

Re: BYE-BYE

Ren,You have talent, creativity and passion for your work. You also have integrity and an unwillingness to tolerate bullsh*t in a business that laughs at integrity and treats bullsh*t as mother's milk. Sleeze balls hate it when someone is honest and they start mumbling stuff like "not enough rope." Radio is filled with people who are addicted to lying - even when the truth would work. They find anyone who won't play their game too confronting.

Dude...Did I not own up to the fact that the 'not enough rope' was a quote that I heard and did not attribute to myself?Did I apologize for making the statement?Did I not actually give Ren credit for solid on air work and not actually knowing the reason why things like that were said about her in the first place, attributing it to things I've heard in staff meetings? If you answered 'yes' to all of the above, let it go!!!

Dude,Yes you did. If the shoe does NOT fit, don't wear it.However, my comments most likely do apply to the unnamed PD you quoted.

WHY?

I see a slight hint of negativity in your posts. You must have had somevery bad experiences with radio and some of the people working in it.Do you think that those working at XM and Sirius are somehow above the people still in regular "old" radio? I ask this because I was down at XM visiting a friend not too long ago and I ran into so many people who came from Ter. radio (all of them actually) and they seemed happy to be working. Does working in Sat. radio somehow change the person's outlook or do you think people have the same issues (personal & professional) no matter which company writes the check?
