Lois Melkonian out at KTRH.

It should be remembered that Melkonian came to KTRH from the CC station in Denver - KOA.

It's more probable that she is sick of the idiot running kTRH, and the idiot she has to work with.

Like a few of her female predecessors, she just got married. She may have actually married money and decided to get out of this low-paying business. You couldn't pay me enough to work there again.

I don't see her shaking the label of being brought in to be part of the group that contributed to the demise of what little credibility was left at KTRH. Perhaps in another city, but not Houston. Wish her well no matter what.

Sad but true. Any shred of credibility was imploded with the departure of JP and Lana.

I've noticed that 92FM has added a few more reporters to the staff it seems. A few stories lately that normally JP or Lana would've just read, somebody else actually "reported" on... Strange indeed, but I'm glad for that crew... They have my vote for most improved morning show!

Harsh. I made a point of listening when she arrived and liked her delivery, although I didn't listen long enough to be comprehensive in my assessment, by any means---much like a typical listener, I think. I don't think I'm the only one in radio who ever moved for what sounded like a sweet advancement and found myself walking into a nightmare. Raise your hand if that's ever happened to you. I see you, Dave, get that hand up.

I mean, who among us hasn't worked for d*cks at one time or another? I'm not disparaging the great work, chemistry, and credibility of JP and Lana. But it's pretty unkind to blame the talent, who worked her *ss off to get to the market, because the station has lost its credibility.

I mean, she didn't last all that long over there. That ought to speak for her abundance of creativity and intelligence, right there. Just sayin.'

Harsh.

This was not meant to be harsh; just what I see as realistic. There's a stigma attached to what happened at KTRH for all those involved. It was high profile and ugly. Just glad 92.1 came along to fill the void.

Hmmm. Seems like backwards thinking. For every job opening, someone has been blown out. It is ugly and often high-profile, but it's the nature of the business. KTRH stunk up its own credibility long ago. It's patently unfair to blame a new talent for the station's baggage. Good teams get blown out and replaced with bad teams, sure. But good teams also get blown out to be replaced with good teams.

I'm one of those people who believes that we are the engineers of our own societal norms. I personally don't enjoy stigmatizing people over the crappy circumstances they walk into which make up the bulk of the radio business. Just because A is good doesn't automatically mean B sucks.

And as much as we may hate it, listeners do adapt to changes in their on-air lineups as long as they're getting what they want from the station in general. If that were not the case, nobody would ever get blown out. It sucks out loud, no doubt. But like I said: it's not the new show's fault when station management is stupid. To punish talent for realizing a market goal is regressive thinking.

One more thought. Aside from married couples and morning show teams, I have only once seen someone quit over the way someone else was fired. Only once. We can gritch and begrudge, but an opening is an opening. I'm sorry. I've seen people angling for a daypart before the former jock was actually buried. I've seen it. Ugly is an apt word, but there simply aren't enough jobs to go around. Who would turn down a chance to transfer to the Houston market because Clear Channel axed the previous hosts? I mean, it's kind of their thing.

Like a true professional her comments to Mike show she's not a bridge burner. Goodbye Ms Melkonian. It was really nice having you here.

Best of luck, Lois!

I just hope Lois K ept T he R ental H ome

Clear Channel and career planning are an oxymoron. Good luck Lois!

I sure hope she lands on her feet. It's tuff to follow legends. To me, it didn't seem like her heart was in it from the get go. Her endorsement spots for her boyfriend/hubby losing weight were just awful. The spots had no consistancy, it was like they forgot what they had already said. That may have been part of the reason she wanted out of the Michael Berry Pallace of Ego. BTW, has the KTRH morning show become a snoozer to anyone else but me? Presently, Houston radio seems suck-o. I like the Alving CC station, great playlists. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, hope I don't get another tie, but that's okay too.
