LOL@Star 94 Atlanta Being CHR/Pop...

3 Doors Down "Let Me Go" at 8???? Nickleback "Photograph" still inside its Top 10??? Fallout Boy's "Sugar We're Goin Down" still Top 3??? Green Day's "Holiday" still at number 12???

I know many CHRs tend to have a Recurrent in its Top 10 or Top 20, but this station seems to play nothing but Rock-leaning Recurrents:
Notice Green Day's "Wake Me up When September Ends" at 15, or Lifehouse at 17.

If this overall sound works for them that's really great, but why are they still classified as CHR/Pop when they haven't really been close to one in over 10 years?

Atlanta's Q-100 may not have Star's ratings, but it does have a bonafide CHR/Pop sound and playlist:

So, you believe this station to be more of a CHR rock station?

I know WIXX Green Bay and their sister WIFC Wausau are heavy on rock. WIXX has gone crazy on the golds. Yesterday they wound up playing Aqua - Barbie Girl, Shaggy - Luv Me Luv Me, Aerosmith - Jaded, Everclear - Santa Monica, Green Day - Basketcase, Notorious BIG - Mo Money, Mo Problems, Lou Bega - Mambo #5, Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta, New Radicals - You Get What You Give, 80s cuts from Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, Everclear - AM Radio, Candlebox - Far Behind (an old WXSS favorite), among others.

Songs in their current/recurrent catigory include in no particular order:

Matisyahu - King Without A Crown (the album version)
Bon Jovi - Who Says You Can't Go Home
The Faders - No Sleep tonight
Morningwood - Nth Degree
Marc Brussard - Home (this is a blues/country/southern rock/AAA track. It apparently tests really well in Green Bay and Wausau)
KT Tunstall - Black Horse & The Cherry Tree (WIFC just started playing this one Friday or Saturday)
Jack Johnson - Upside Down
Chris Brown - Run It (They're a little late on this one but now they're all over it)
10 Years - Wasteland (WIFC isn't playing this one yet)

Both have a very strong amount of recurrents and golds in rotation.

Since both Wilds went under within the past month (Wild 99.7 Green Bay and WOFM Wausau WIXX/WIFC's sister stations went Classic Hits/Hot AC) they have been opening the normally extremely rock leaning CHrs to rhythmic cuts.

Both have been playing

Rihanna - SOS
Chris Brown - Run It (Finally)
Black Eyed Peas - Pump It
Usher Re currents
Kanye West - Gold Digger

WIFC apparently has been getting lots of requests for Ciara - 1,2 Step so now its back in rotation.

Both WIFC and WIXX are #1 in their markets with double digit ratings.

Here's WIXX's Top 100 from Yes.com. WIXX and WIFC are VERY much alike. Almost exact from what I have heard while listening.

Another station that has a number of recurrents in their top 40 is WZEE Madison.

I LOVE "Far Behind" by Candlebox! One of my favorites from the 90s.

While WIXX and WIFC play a good amount of Recurrents, take a look at the station's Top 10 or Top 20 most played songs of the past week. How many of them are Recurrents? Now compare that with star 94 Atlanta ;)

Star 94 has been a laughingstock for a long time as a CHR station.
______________
FCC=Freakin' Clear Channel. Also known as sluggmunki_tx on tv.com

Just curious how you define "laughingstock?"

Is it because they are a heritage CHR? Perhaps it's because they bill $30 million a year? Or because they are the ratings dominator versus Q100?

LOL! Maybe some of you have a nasty case of "Star 94 Envy?"

Please go back and read what I wrote, especially this part
"If this overall sound works for them that's really great, but why are they still classified as CHR/Pop when they haven't really been close to one in over 10 years?"

Nobody here would be bashing them if they were classified as Hot A/C.
