Thoughts/Comments?...

If BOTH libs and conservatives don't get their collective

heads out of their respective butts, and decide that NOT BEING OFFENDED is not a constitutional right, nor has it ever been, and FINALLY decide to CONTROL our damned borders, this is coming to a mall, theater, City Bus near you.

Offended because you fit the standard profile of the person who's MOST LIKELY to do something like this here......TOUGH...

If it sucks in the US so bad, why are tens of millions of people breaking down the doors to get IN here from wherever they were?

It's far easier to get from the Southern Tip of South America into the US through Mexico than it is to get into England from France. No one's complaining about the searches and whatnot...and if they are...THEY DON'T CARE.

Agreed

Now take a deep breath and get a grip.....

First, let's not get xenophobic. As disgusted as I am with this senseless tragedy in the UK, you cannot place EVERYBODY non-American outside our borders under suspicion. The vast majority are just as horrified at this tragedy as we are.

This really pisses me off at the Bush administration for letting al-Qaeda and most especially Osama bin Laden get away and come back to bite us with this while we wre trying to occupy Iraq for the last 3 years. Saddam Hussein was NOT even CLOSE to the most dangerous threat in the world, as we painfully know now on this tragic day. And Tony Blair had better prepare for a backlash, most folks in the UK didn't want any involvement in Iraq and were more concerned with the threat of an al-Qaeda attack. They got one today, and they're pissed off.

Talk like that is exactly what the terrorists want you to think. When you sink down to their level, you just encourage them. The vast majority of Muslims are sickened by this and when you start blaming them, you only increase the divide between us and add fuel to the resentments that spark terrorism. Which is exactly what the terrorists want.

Canada, Australia and the UK also have very high immigration rates.

Well, after trudging through the Andes, from mountaintop after freezing mountaintop, through scorching deserts, through steamy jungles filled with big creepy and poisonous snakes and bugs and the hungry pirahna packed Amazon River. Up into the cocaine fields od Colombia protected by big, mean and totally spracked out machine gun toting mercenaries and the Panama Canal swim amongst the great white sharks. Then into the killing fields of Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, tourist filled Mexico, etc. I think in the end, the terrorists would sooner invade England by way of France.

Sadly, they did today.

I've talked with some of my UK friends today and while they have dealt with occasional IRA bomb in the tube stations, they never had anything on this scale. It was definately their 9/11.

What does this have to do with Seattle radio?

There's nothing xenophobic about wanting to at least make it so you can't just WALK ACROSS THE BORDER IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO DO IT..>THAT is what I was talking about. Nowhere did I say that everybody non American outside our borders should be glared at as though they were entering Soviet Russia in 1985.

My comment was SPECIFIC...CONTROL THE BORDERS. As it is now, we've got a huge seive for a border.

I agree that the vast majority are horrified..I never said otherwise. You read what I didn't say into what I did say.

I don't agree with you here, but this isnt' the venue for that discussion.

Sorry...When we start lighting people on fire after sawing their heads off on video, THEN you can talk about SINKING TO THEIR LEVEL.

High but nowhere near the millions upon millions here.

That was Hyperbole to make a point referencing back to my virtually non existent borders above.

I agree and I think the White House should be flying the Union Jack for the next week as a show of Solidarity.

Re: Not wanting to get too far afield (My fault already..I know)

Maybe Screwed,

Your post is the kind of post that seems to pop up somewhere in my media universe in the wake of something terrible like today's attacks in London, and your remarks curiously seem intended to put forth some kind of an I'm right/You're wrong/I'm conservative (whatever that is these days)/You're a liberal (and a craven, stinky, pinko, commie liberal at that) idiot. That's fine if you want to believe that and have Karl Rove and other un-American, liberty-hating thugs define your sociopolitical structure for you (and academics and intelluctuals are accused of parroting their professors verbatim, please, no one is more stenographic that your average Limbaugh dittohead), but you'll have to excuse me if I'm not as far to the left as you'd like to imagine I am, and your remarks are weirdly out of place on this board and in light of Thursday's London attacks.

Oh, and what's this sieve for a southern border have to with the London attacks? Let me tell you, if Osama or his pals want to enter the United States, do you think they're going to try to sneak across in a truck at San Ysidro or blend in with the crowd at Juarez? There's a convenient border along the northern tier of the United States that is conveniently undefended, and in many cases, rugged country similar to areas of Afghanistan where many modern-day Jihadists trained (and continue to do so along the Pakistan border, even though Pakistan is apparently one of our on-the-payroll "friends" in the "War on Terror"). Don't believe me? Ask any of the guys serving with the 82nd Airborne out of Camp Tillman along the Afghan-Pakistan border these days. The 9/11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, and Pakistan. So we invaded Iraq and imported the terrorists. Seems to me there could have been a far more efficient way of doing this, and Cheney's/Bush's pals at Halliburton and the usual crop of war profiteers still could have cashed in on the war.

No, this has nothing to do with radio, but you brought it up Maybe Screwed, so here goes. Ask yourself for a moment WHY folks from Mexico and Central America bust their ass and risk life, limb and plenty else to come to the Untied States. It's because there is a bengin status quo system of JOBS waiting for them here. It's a can't miss, a sure thing, a "slam dunk." Jobs in restaurants, country clubs, golf courses, gymnasiums, 'doing the work the gueros wouldn't do,' in the words of Bruce Springsteen.

If you're so against illegal immigration (is there anyone FOR illegal immigration?), perhaps you'd get behind legislation to impose stiff penalties on all those who EMPLOY illegal immigrants. If we turn off the spigot of jobs, we take away one big reason for illegal immigrants to come here. Would YOU eat at a restaurant where illegal immigrants were employed? How do you know you haven't already?

Throw those scumbags in jail who contribute to illegal immigration by offering jobs to illegal immigrants because they're too cheap to pay an honest wage to a citizen to do it. "Oh, but wait," you say, "who will pick my salad, who will clean my pool, who will go to Wenatchee and pick my Red Delicious apples, who will park my car, who will DETAIL my car, who will...." The list goes on. Maybe it's time we take some responsibilty for ourselves and police ourselves and pay people livable wages to do these jobs and not cheap out and give it to an illegal immigrant, if that's what you want? Or, would you agree that many illegal immigrants work harder than their U.S. citizen counterparts doing similar jobs?

I think you still have some homework to do on this. You go down to Organ Pipe National Monument and spend some time with the civillian folks patrolling the border down there and tell me if it's responsible behavior or not. And you tell me the problem isn't people coming here, it's that Americans are dangling the prospect of jobs to illegal immigrants like a carrot on a string. It's not overt, it's benign ~ it's how much of the west coast "invisible" labor force works.

Outside of that, I'm on board with Larry.

Best.

What's wrong with having said what I actually said and no hidden meanings?
If you got "I'm right/you're wrong because I'm conservative and you're a liberal" out of that. That is PURLY on your bias as to reading. I never said it, I never meant it.

Um...ok whatever...Haven't heard Limbaugh since Summer 2002.
As to your political leaning, It doesn't matter.
>

Not a damned thing. But my post was to point out that what happened in London IS going to come here sooner or later because the government REFUSES to CONTROL..Please read the word instead of inserting your own, CONTROL the borders (both Northern and Southern)

Let me tell you, if Osama or his pals

I know and that's why except for that one spot where I stated "Southern" I only said BORDERS.

Agreed. And I know it's got nothing to do with Seattle Radio.
KVI covered it wall to wall for most of the morning. My comment about how it's going to come here was an editorial comment and nothing more based on what has NOT been happening since 9-11. Specifically, putting some control on people getting in here illegally. Ostensibly that's because they're worried about offending people and not nearly as equally worried about losing them.

I totally support such laws. As to eating at a restaurant where illegals are employed. We now have to venture into that swamp the left calls PROFILING.
The only way I could make such a determination would be to ask the restaurant owner (Not likley to get a straight answer there) or just make the logical assumption that at the El (Fill in blank so I don't name a real place) restaurant, anyone who obviously doesn't speak English is therefore illegal and I won't spend my money there. HOW do I know? Yes, I'd refuse to spend money in a place where I had actual knowledge that they hired illegals.

Yes, throw them in jail.
This country is chock full of 15, 16, 17 year olds on summer vaction who have way way too much handed to them for nothing. Put THEIR asses in those fields.

I think MINUTEMEN and similar groups along the border ARE responsible behavior because they're doing what NEITHER side in our government has the stomach for.
