There much opportunity for a classic rock station to feature what Lonestar is not playing. Bone, are you listening?

92.5 could not make it through the first day without repeating songs. Playing the Black Crowes 10 times a day is not sustainable.

Are the Lonestar’s only female vocalists Janis Joplin & Rossington-Collins Band?

There is absolutely no reason to repeat a song the first week.

Playing different songs by the same artist isn't that big of a deal.

Having over half of your playlist dominated by a mere 14 artists could lead to burnout (on no, we just heard them...).

A no repeat week would require a playlist >1500 songs. Their list is likely well below that number.

There were actually only nine Black Crowes spins on day 1 (I had marked a Black Oak Arkansas song in the wrong column). Jealous Again was played at 0022 & 1715 hrs. As of 1300 hrs day 2, the Black Crowes netted one additional play, a repeat of Hard To Handle.

Their are likely other repetitions showing up, but I'll leave that analysis to someone else...

The odds of the same listener(s) catching all three airplays at the times you've posted, are quite slim. It's a different audience for all three of those dayparts.

They claimed to have a playlist of over 1000 songs prior to the flip, it wouldn't be that big to have added 500 more by expanding genres.

I actually heard Stoney LaRue played twice Monday...the same song. I don't know how many other times it was played.

I would really like to hear some 80's R.E.M. stuff like Rockville, So. Central Rain and Driver 8 mixed in there, also Lucinda Williams and Calexico.

According to the article in the Observer, starting Monday you will be able to request it and they will play it....

These artists were added on Day 2...

Classic Rock
Doors, Mountain

Country
Alabama, Bellamy Brothers, Drivin' N' Cryin', Merle Haggard, Highwaymen, Kentucky Headhunters, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Billy Joe Shaver, Randy Travis,

Roots Rock:
Jonathan Edwards

Black Crowes aired 5 times on day 2 with 4 of the 5 being repeats from day 1.

Drive-By Truckers - Gravity's Gone (2006 release) played 4 times on day 2.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up, Graywolf. I need to read that article. I like the fact that Redbeard is the Music Director, I really liked Q102 back in the day.

It's just too bad that KZPS would rather play Whiskeytown, than than play Van Halen's "Take Your Whiskey Home". But that VH wasn't a single or a video, so why the Hell would that be on anyone's radar screen??

Corporate Circular Argeuments never appealled to me....

You know.... "the station/corporation/chain agrees (accept payment in the usual way) to play a song a lot, then, the listeners start requesting the song alot, so we play the song... alot. And then we say, we play that song a lot, because its what the listeners want. And we want to serve the intersts of our listeners. And, bty, listeners haven't been requesting the song you wanted to hear, and so, it's not one of the songs our listeners want to hear."

Day 3 Update:

New Artists Added (No Classic Rock):
Tracy Byrd, Keith Fowler, Robbie Fulks, Mandarin, Rhett Miller, Roger Miller

7 Black Crowes songs aired. Of the 9 Black Crowes songs on the play list, all have been played at least twice so far and 3 have been played three times.

Tiesto - Carpe Noctum was listed as being played on Day 1. This is electronic music and seems out of place, It is the #2 song on KZMP's playlist.

The Drivin' N' Cryin' song was Honeysuckle Blue (1990) and does not resemble Fly Me Courageous. Let's call it Southern Rock. This song is closer to being country than being Z-Rock.

I would expect/hope that the playlist will evolve next week when the talent appears.

For me it's too country and too narrow in it's classic rock offerings.

There are major formats missing in this market now that shouldn't be: AAA, Hard Rock, Heritage Rock & Smooth Jazz that should be picked by one of the market's weak performers.

"For me it's too country and too narrow in it's classic rock offerings."

I agree. They need to stick to the outlaw/alternative/red dirt/texas country and avoid the Nashville country like Alabama/George Strait/Tracy Byrd. Play more than 1 or 2 songs over and over by those artists. I have heard Stoney LaRue's Oklahoma Breakdown nearly half a dozen times this week (including right now), but nothing else by him. Reckless Kelly has some really rocking songs I have not heard as does Cross Canadian Ragweed, Shooter Jennings and Hank III.

I am hoping the limited play list is just because they are still trying to figure out what they are doing.

That's the kind of decision they should have made prior to the flip, not after.

Our Mandatory FM crew would be more than happy to consult them on the music they SHOULD be playing. But, then again, they'd have to HAVE all the music that we play!

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR... er... uh... I mean, they earned it. Yeah, that's it. Just ask Willie in between tokes.
