Lonestar KHTZ done?

KHTZ has been off the air since Sunday night/Monday early hours. Funny because I was actually listening to them at my place. I went to my truck, and turned it on, switched it to 107.3, and it was gone. I checked the other Roy Henderson station, (94.1 and 105.3) and they were also off. On Monday morning, both KLTR and KTWL were back on, but KHTZ is still nowhere to be seen. Has Brazos Valley Communications officially taken over? I checked KHTZ's website today, and it has been taken off.

All of his in Victoria are off. I just noticed that KULF is now KHTZ in Ganado, I never did get the 400w blowtorch there. I wonder if it was ever on.

Are they still silent?

107.3 Caldwell/Bryan/College Station and 104.7 Ganado/Victoria swapped calls... 107.3 is now KULF; 104.7 is now KHTZ.

I hear it's coming back, but not sure when...or in what form.

You're right Jon, they are back as of this afternoon I believe. They are back with new liners (Liked the old ones better). I wonder if Brazos Communications has completely taken over?

Re: Lonestar KULF done

*UPDATE*

Lonestar is now Christmas Radio 107.3, that explains the dead carrier at the beginning of the week.

Are they still going as Lone star?

Anyone have any idea where BVC will go with this after Xmas? You've gotta think Lone Star is dead with the obvious conflict with heritage country KORA that still does well and is a revenue giant. You've gotta think the hole is with Rock with only lame Clear Channel Fox in their way. Candy gets way more than their fair share as an incredibly average CHR and Mix seems ripe for the picking. Market lacks a true AC or Oldies and Vascocu has a history with both in Mildland, right. College town has to be beggin forAalt to come back too.

Has anyone noticed that BVC now has 4 FMs+1AM in this market where CC is a pushover and BB is stuck with 1 FM and a bunch of AM junk with syndicated Rush and Rome? Amazing that GAP hasn't found their way here but I guess Lowry's Aggie status is a factor.

From what I've heard about this market in my travels is that it is a contrast in styles:
1) BB - Ben Downs/Bill Hicks - good guys, anti-establishment - very conservative/community oriented, good off-air revenue
2) BVC - Kiske / Vascacu - smartest guys in the room, a bit detached locally, innovative/willing to shake it up, still playing catch up online
3) CC - Leslie - good business manager / hated by staff / dubious credibility / Voice tracked beyond am's

It will be interesting to see who ends up winning this battle as in my travels as a consultant my money would be on the smart guys with the sticks over the community guys and CC morons. I'd root for good music but they'll kill it with Lone Star anyway and given it's 00.1 rating I'd be hard pressed to argue.

....since midnight, it sounds like the old Bob-FM format....

KULF has relaunched as 107.3 The Planet. So far the playlist is very similar to that of Mix 104.7, but with a few more currents.
