Long ago WCBI-TV

When I was a kid in Columbus, back in the late 50s, early 60s, Channel 4 had a news anchor whose daughter was a classmate of mine. His name was Frank Schaeffer. (I may have the last name misspelled, since there are so many variants on it.) I've been googling but it's like he never existed.

Somewhere, I seem to recall hearing he had a rather untimely demise, but I am unsure. I'm trying to find out a bit about him (I went and toured the old channel 4 studios numerous times) and was hoping someone here would know about him (and his daughter, Marty.)

Anyone remember a ch 4 news guy named Mac Miller. He was from West Point. I worked with in the early 70's in Columbus. I think I remember him saying he was let go from WCBI for appearing inebriated on the air.
Could this be the guy your are thinking of ? Mac died maybe 20 years ago.

Yeah, Mac (r.i.p.)also made those same appearances at Bob's Place as I remember. IIRC, some time in the early 60's, one of the folks out there was killed on Hwy 12 between the Country club the the TV station but I can't recall who it was. Again, if I remember correctly I do recall the Schafer person but can't attach it to an incident.

Long time ago and far away.

Good luck!
