LONG HAUL FM TROPO: INDIANA TO EASTERN NY

Incredible reception this morning, WWKI 100.5 Kokomo, IN topping the frequency nicely for several minutes this morning in Poughkeepsie, NY. This sets a new record for me for long-distance tropo at 639 miles, first tropo from Indiana. WWKI has been heard here before via skip, back on July 4, 2010, one of four previous Indiana skip loggings. Some other DXers in NJ also received WWKI this morning. Nothing else special was identified here... kind of funny how this one signal got out so well this morning.

You can hear a portion of the reception at the following link:

Nice catch!

The station was steady as can be with no fading in and out which is characteristic of tropo.

This time of year, you guys have better tropo opportunities than we do down here along the Gulf.
