What do you think of intros from songs being so long in image it sounds like the song is rolling, then , bam, image, then into new music? I have been caught a couple of times getting my groove on tune, only to feel ripped off.....
______________
I've been listening to your show on the radio, and you seem like a friend to meeeeeeeee

No kidding. That irritates me too. Especially when done mid-sweep. Bush-league imaging at its worst.

Are you talking about an image sweep that contains song hooks?

The only time I'm bothered by it is when it contains the same song as I'm either coming out of, or going in to.

..but that's operator error not an imaging issue.

Let's see if I can describe it better, song with 16 sec post, 12 seconds into it station image voice, then into another song just before post, usually done with old school intro, then punch into new song.as a listener, I would have much preferred the song, voice image to post then finish song you start with, maybe just me, wadda ya think out there???????
______________
It's not the size of the tower.....
It's how you use it.

So let me see if this is what you mean...

Song "A" is playing from the beginning. 12 seconds in, the image voice sells the station name. At 16 seconds in, just as the lyrics are set to start, Song "B" starts and all you hear from song "A" is the intro?? That is what I think you are trying to say, correct?

If so, I have never heard that, EVER, regardless of market size.

If you heard that happen once, it could have just been a miscue on the board-op's behalf...sometimes a random keystroke can kill you on most automation/playback systems.

I'm hearing a lot of positioner drop-in's produced like that lately. It is somewhat annoying. WROR uses a lot of them.

Sometimes the DJ (or the promo scheduler, whoever actually does it) seems to think it's cool to use one with the actual song about to be played, or that was just played, used in the drop-in. I was hearing that sometimes on WODS recently (before the X-mas rush).

What I find annoying is when a seemingly random snippet of a song is used instead of an actual hook.
