Long Island jocks = NY Mets PA announcer

I understand Alex Anthony is the pa announcer at Shea Stadium for the NY Mets. Per his bio he worked at WLIR. When was he at LIR & what shift did he do?

Rick Sommers, former WBLI jock, did some pa work at Shea in the past. Plus, we can't forget Roger Luce of WBAB did work at Shea.

Did any other LI jocks work for the Mets?

I think Alex was with WLIR in the late 90s, after they had switched the call letters back from WDRE to WLIR, and started playing more of a Hot-AC format.

Here is a link to a photo of him with the WLIR - "The Island" logo they were using at that time behind him.

It's not Shea, but former WGLI and WGBB jock Bob Ottone is the PA announcer for the LI Ducks... and does a great job at it!

Actually, according to Wikipedia there is a lot of LI Radio representation with the Ducks:

Current Broadcasters: Radio: Chris King of the New York Islanders, David Weiss, former morning show host for WLIE and Mike Solano
Current PA Announcer: Bullet Bob Ottone of the former WGLI-AM fame, and most recently since 1977 as Station Manager for WXBA-FM, Brentwood High School's FM radio station (retired 2002).

wasnt paul richards from whli doing that too?

I also think that Party Marty was there also....with this I mean the ducks

Party Marty is one talented guy, and yes he was with the Ducks.

He was the Night guy at our Country station in NJ, K-98.5. Great pipes and really connects with the listeners.

The Ducks are once again leading the league in attendance, averaging 5714 fans (95% of the 6002 seat capacity).
Yesterday's attendance was 6,070 (101% of capacity).

Doesn't sound like any attendance problems there!

Joey B with a wealth of info.

5,700 fans per games beats several AAA teams in the International League like Syracuse, Norfolk, Rochester, Charlotte & Richmond. A great sign.
