Long Islanders, you really ARE lucky (re: Party FM)

On the New York City board, there were TONS of complaints regarding Party FM. They are no longer on 87.7 now.

At this time I would like to point out, to the dance fans reading this, how FORTUNATE you are to still have that station. They may play hip-hop, to which some have their views on, but at LEAST they are playing the brand of dance music not heard ANYWHERE else in the region....not anymore in New York City. You now have it back on 101.5 (to which some Long Islanders were "shut" out because the 87.7 signal nor the 105.3 signal was reaching to them).

Seriously....if you can tune in to the station, SUPPORT THEM. And if you don't like what you are hearing, you can turn the dial elsewhere. No complaints, no arguments...just turn the dial. I wish the station was still here in NYC "proper" on 87.7. But it is what it is and for the dance fans in the region that can get the stations, tune in :)

I wouldn't call it lucky.

The station is a parody of itself.

The DJs sound very childish (in a bad way). The sound quality and audio processing is horrendous.

No, I'm certainly not supporting them. Give it up Tony.

That's your call.

And honestly, I'm just "resting" for now in terms of pushing for another station in NYC "proper." I will still support dance music to the very end.

I will support PartyFM because they are SOUNDING GREAT. They're playing more cutting edge new dance tracks again along with some fresh Hip Hop too. I can listen to them again too, since the 87.7 signal was too weak here in Westbury.
If only they sounded this good when they simulcasted on 87.7. I feel bad for NYC folks because they really dont know what they're missing. Too bad we cant get one of these "pirates" to simulcast the webstream.
Remember, I always accepted Hip Hop as part of the Party, but keeping it cutting edge is what Party is all about. If Party had another oportunity to do a NYC simulcast I would support it. Its interesting how all the Ex-Pulse listeners who complained about Party now moan about missing it now thats its gone from 87.7.
If only JVC could get 92.7 back in the fold... ;D

If by chance Party is on 92.7, that still leaves NJ shut out. 1. Bloomfield has a caribbean pirate on 92.7. 2. Here in the shore, WOBM is on 92.7.

And you wonder why I get on your case since YOU were the main complainer that did YouTube videos on this. And NOW you say this? Better yet...

This is YOU! You say you HATE hip-hop. Another video has you complaining about "day laborers listening to Q BOONA" (meaning La Que Buena on 92.7). Do I go on??? You were bashing Party! So what is it really, the fact you really didn't WANT the station to hit into New York City and now that it isn't there anymore, you're happy since you have your Long Island station back?

You caused a bigger riff than you realize. So yeah, I do blame you in part.

Tony

Nobody cares. You are seen as a joke by the people I know who work(ed) at Party and elsewhere in the industry... the day Pulse ended, you were the center of every joke

GO AWAY and leave the rest of the world to NORMAL music. Thank You.

I didn't know that playing the same material heard on 6 different stations in a single market in addition to 3 or 4 others in their surrounding markets is considered normal music.  So you continue to enjoy your repitition on the dial, but for others, we feel we shouldn't have to deal with "normal music."  8)

Not going anywhere. No apologies on it either. Deal with it.

Your format is DEAD. Nobody cares. Get an IPOD, get on with your life. Radio is no longer relevent for new music. Accept it

1. No it isn't
2. People do care.
3. I have 2 iPods, thank you.
4. My life is great, thanks for caring :-*
5. It's "relevant", but you could be right in that case.
6. Nope I won't accept it. But at least we have the Internet streamers :)

Any more thoughts on this?

I aint gonna get into an argument with you, though clearly you are starting it. I was happy to see Party in NYC. Never said I wasn't. Yeah I may have preferred the Pulse but...argh, just forget it. Yeah I had to take a break from Party, so what? Its a free country, I can listen to whatever radio station I want. I'm just an easy scapegoat for you to blame for not having dance music in NYC.

Alright...no argument and I didn't start this. Let's approach it in this manner. Think about this, carefully. Try to see it from my perspective if you can. Re-read this many times if it helps.

How does a person (you) bash a radio station and makes a video expressing opinions on it, and then after a portion of that station leaves a frequency (87.7), that same person (you) all of a sudden praises it and in effect "sticks it" to those that lost it on 87.7 by coming off with those comments? Do you see that at all? Can you understand why something like this would irk people? It's like you're "throwing hard jabs at something" and then all of a sudden put "salt in the wound" to those affected by the loss while you start giving praises to what you "beat up?" because you can still tune in to the station? Does that make sense? Please clarify my thoughts in the event I missed something here because you've completely baffled me. That's why you got my anger.

You can listen to any station you want, I don't care. If Party sounds better now to you, then great. But don't stick it as a "too bad for those of you in NYC" because you were on the bashing bandwagon with those videos. While the specific videos WERE NOT (I made that in bold there so you can see this carefully) the reason why PartyFM left NYC, they certainly didn't help as it made people bitter and join in on your bashing. Granted EVERYONE was happy to see PartyFM in NYC figuring the good reputation of Vic Latino and his knowledge of the music.

Look, whatever happened, happened. I just can't, in good conscience, allow you to make remarks like that post without noting the facts.

Let's try it this way if you still don't understand. How would it make ME look if I did a bash on, let's say as an example, WNEW (when it was a rock station) simulcasting on 107.1 for Eastern L.I (which DID happen). I would complain that "classic rock" and "alternative" don't belong together and that, what would NYC know about that part of Long Island? It's a NYC station for godsakes! Then all of a sudden 107.1 disappears for something else and then I praise 'NEW after all and feel bad that those "poor Long Islanders don't know what they lost".

Can you see it like that?

That's the anger I have on you. It is NOT your fault that Party left NYC, for the record. But do get the GIST of what I'm trying to point out here? I don't want this to be an "LI" vs. "NYC" battle here but that's what you're making this out to be (knowingly or unknowingly). That has to stop and that's why I had to "call you out" on your comments.

[size=80pt]BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

You know, you sound exactly like that poster on the Boston board who said the same exact thing.

As soon as I start 40 posts on it, I'm sure it would be an issue. Shame the fanboys on here can't translate success into Party FM. I mean, they cume, what, 40,000?

Try 400,000. Maybe small to your standards (whatever that may be) but nevertheless there were listeners.

It's actually a rather minuscule issue that you "hate" the way you do only because you allow the "ignorance" in terms of what is "better music" or not to cloud your judgment on things. Granted there are some musical sounds that I am not into. Yet there is a crowd that loves it. I'm certainly NOT going to criticize on anyone's tastes because I personally don't like it, nor give it some sort of "snobbery" on what I think is better than that. It's just not cool.

You don't have to like dance music or hip-hop. I wouldn't force you or anyone to do so. I think there should be a country music station here too. I'm not into country but there are certainly enough fans of the music, in the area, that are passionate enough to want such a station to reappear on the FM dial in this region. If they get such a station down the road, God bless 'em :) .

Don't let your "hate" consume you. It takes more wasted energy to hate on something then it is to have a passion on it.

You wanna hate me? Fine. Want me dead? Fine. But leave the music alone.

Thank you,
TS

I will complain when a station is playing the wrong music, and praise them when the station is playing the RIGHT music. If you were able to listen to Party you would've noticed how much better the music mix is. Its about 80/20 dance now, and they're playing dance songs like Plummet "Damaged", Tiesto "I Will Be Here", and Jessica Folker "To Be Able to Love". Big Party staples. They're playing most of the big new dance hits. I'm not hearing Pit Bull in heavy rotation anymore.
Yes I bashed them when they were sounding like an urban station, because, I felt Party needed to focus more on dance product. It really is a shame they never sounded this good when they were on 87.7.
Maybe then the folks in NY (Ex-Pulse listeners) wouldn't have been so quick to bash on Party.
Bottom line is they werent sounding good a month ago and I couldn't listen anymore, and now they sound much better and I'm listening again. I'm not "sticking it" to those who listened to Party 87.7. They tweaked their format toward dance when they left 87.7. Period. Thats not my fault. Blame JVC and Vic Latino for not sounding this good when they were on 87.7. Blame them for not having the foresight to see 87.7 would be just a short-term thing and jerking around NYC listeners. I'm sorry Tony I know you supported Party no matter how they sounded, but myself like most people choose radio stations based on playing music they like.

You didn't totally get what I was saying here. And that's the big problem with message boards because it came off as if you WERE sticking it to the 87.7 listeners.

You know what, let someone else answer what you wrote there. Because if it is just "me" seeing it this way, then okay I can deal with it and move forward. But if someone else saw the same thing I did, then you have to realize how those words you've stated could be interpreted or misinterpreted, even if it wasn't your intent to "stick it" to people. I DO listen to Party on 105.3 here in the Bronx, being I live so high up to pull in Suffolk & Connecticut so I am completely aware. My point, when PartyFM was here in NYC, was to give them the support they needed since we did lose Pulse 87 due to their financial issues. And upon giving them the support, I wasn't thinking in terms of "today" but for the future. My mindset was on that perspective which is why I kept pleading with people to give the station a chance.

And they WERE playing dance. Not as much as Pulse did but they DID play some dance.

We can argue forever about this. I have to think of future moves. But not until I take a well deserved break from the past couple of months. When I get back from the Winter Music Conference, then we shall see what we need to do from that point on.
