Long time radio personality Roy gene Munse passes

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear about this. I worked with Roy Gene at KJCS 103 in Nacogdoches for a time after the Vance family bought the station in 1987.

I was the news director, and while I had almost no direct day to day contact with him, I really enjoyed listening to his show. He was a very funny and entertaining DJ with a gift for dry humor.
This is not a happy day. My sincere condolences go to his family and co-workers.

As a former KORA-FM DJ, I am truly saddened to hear of Roy Gene's passing. I worked middays for him at KORA in 1983 and 1984. He was a lot of fun to work for, and one of the cleverest minds I ever met in radio.

As KORA's morning DJ (and as an MC at any event), he was a gifted, extemporaneous wit. I couldn't wait to listen to his morning show.

Condolences to his family,

Mike

I worked with Roy Gene at KJCS in the late '70's... sandwiched between him and Bill Schultz. They both kept me in stitches. RG was a great example of the old saying, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here just as fast as I could!". If there is a medium-market station in the next world, you can bet these 2 guys are there and making it sound good.
